Ahmed Musa: Leicester City boss reveals why he signed forward
Claudio Ranieri says he signed Ahmed Musa because of his versatility and potential good partnership with Jamie Vardy. Following Ahmed Musa’s impressive outing for Leicester City in last weekend’s goalless draw with Arsenal in the Premier League, manager, Claudio Ranieri has revealed that he signed the player because of his versatility.
Musa troubled the Arsenal defence when he came in the game with just 10 minutes to go and was even denied a penalty after he was brought down in the box.
Following his display so far, Leicester City manager Ranieri revealed that he signed the forward because he can play in several positions and connect well with star striker, Jamie Vardy.
Ahmed Musa says he’s similar to Jamie Vardy
“They connect well. It is important that Musa understands how we play because the Russian league is very different from English football,” the Italian coach told the Leicester’s official website ahead of this weekend’s Premier League game against Swansea.
“They play at a slower tempo. The English league is very fast.
“In the last 10 minutes last week he played very well and created a lot of chances for us. He must increase his fitness and understanding. He can play together with Vardy.
“We bought Musa because he can play wide, behind the striker as well. It’s a good choice for me during the match.”
Musa has been involved in Leicester City’s two Premier League games this season as they remain winless.
