Gov. Emmanuel introduces 1-day free ticketing in A‘Ibom markets
Market women and other traders are now to enjoy a one day free ticketing in all markets and trading points across Akwa Ibom.
Disclosing this, while flagging off the free ticketing day at Akpan Andem market in Uyo, the state capital, the special Assistant to the Governor on Trade and Markets, Mr. Udorenyin Raphael, said that the gesture by the state Governor is to be observed in all markets every Thursday of the week.
According to him, no fewer than five Hundred traders will equally benefit from a N2 billion interest free loan to be provided by the state Government to assist them in their businesses.
Idorenyen explained that of the amount male traders numbering one Hundred are to get N500,000 each while women are to draw N300,000 to boost their trading activities.
Beneficiaries of the loan, which he said would be revolving will be allowed one month of grace before the one year repayment and urged them to organize themselves into cooperatives associations for easy access.
He assured that no trader would be left out of the loan as the Governor is passionate in ensuring that the facility get to all traders across the state.
The Governor’s aid warned the traders to desist from roadside trading as such activities have been outlawed across the state and enjoined revenue collector to strictly adhere to the law.
He decried the incessant molestation of women traders in the market by revenue collectors …saying such barbaric and inhuman actions would no longer be tolerated.
