London Premieres ”2nd Wife” Nollywood Movie
A few awards were handed out during a glamours night in London during the premiere of ”2nd Wife” to recognise specific individual who have contributed to the development and the Nollywood film industry, this list included the Chairman of Channels Media Group, Mr John Momoh who has just been elected as the Chairman of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) he was however unable to attend in person and sent a delegate.
Sarha Degnace: She is the Project manager for “Independent African Film Exhibition & Events”. Since 2012 her organisation has strived to ensure African films are exhibited in World class venues. They source very good distribution deals for African films in the
UK. For this and other achievements we recognise Sarha Degnace.
C-Ong. She has been in the media for over 12 years. She decided to invest in the Nollywood film industry to build local UK talents. Her production “Drag Him to the Altar” not only gained international acclaim, but was one of the first 100% UK production to
be acquired by Iroko TV because of it’s dramatic quality. For putting UK stars on the international map, we are honoured to give you this award.
Rhoda Wilson: She produced and sponsored the UK based TV series “Housewives & Girlfriends”. She got the best of UK talents to work together on this project. The TV series was bought by the biggest African TV network Africa Magic. She has completed
Season 2, and is looking towards promoting UK talents by producing and sponsoring more projects. We give you this Award for your tenacity and belief in promoting the industry.on to star in various projects in Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Uganda and Abu Dhabi. She is not just and actress, but her charity work in Cameroon also is one of the reasons we are recognising her today.
Brun Njua. One of UK’s hottest export. Since starring with Nkem Owoh in “My Property” that got international acclaim, she has gone on to star in various projects in Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Uganda and Abu Dhabi. She is not just and actress, but her charity work in Cameroon also is one of the reasons we are recognising her today.
Ayan da first: From performing in state house in Nigeria, to performing for the Royal Family at Buckingham palace during the Golden Jubilee celebration, Ayan De First is the first professional Talking Drummer in Europe. His team has been on the BBC, performed internationally: Cuba, America ext. The common team is his pride in his culture and his relentless effort in promoting African culture. For this and many more we are honoured to give you this award Sir.
Jamilu Ahmad Yakasi. The man that crowned the “Sadauna of Kannywood”. He is one of the driving force of movie production in the Norther part of Nigeria. He does not only produce good movies, but through aggressive marketing his company is making Fullar and hausa movie very popular in West Africa. This is significant because Indian movies used to be the main stay of Fullar and Hausa speaking peoples. But he is breaking boundaries by producing and promoting movies that promote our culture positively.
Kosor Akpapunam. Before her retirement this year, she was in the Oil & gas sector. But the reason for this award is her unrelenting charity work to give youths a better life in Nigeria. She sponsored so many of our youths up to university level and still continues to do so till date. We noticed your good work , as such we are honoured to give you this award.
Ruke Amata: From the Amata dynasty. He started “Class Act” in the UK where African youths in Diaspora can express their love for African art and culture with pride. Products from his institution are making waves internationally. He is the President of Producers Guild UK, and is always on hand to assist financially and creatively in film production here in the UK. Lovingly referred to as the Godfather, we are honoured to give you this recognition award for your contribution to promoting African art and Culture.
