Oasis to reform ?
The Oasis to reform rumours have hit overdrive since the Noel Gallagher interview with LTW editor John Robb last week
In the interview Noel explained , “I can’t sing ‘Slide Away’ and ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ and ‘Rock ‘N’ Roll Star’ and ‘Columbia’ and all that, I mean I can do it but it’s not the same. It’s the delivery or the tone of his voice and the attitude. I don’t have the same attitude as him: Liam is a shot of tequila, right, and mine’s half a Guinness, Mine’s half a Guinness on a Tuesday. It’s alright. Liam’s is ten shots of tequila on a fucking Friday night.”
In the exclusive one off interview for the upcoming Definitely Maybe album rereleases Noel was complimentary about Liam’s vocals and stage presence and there was a noticeable softening in attitude that excited many fans.
In the last few days since then the rumour mill has been in overdrive that Oasis could reform to play their first shows since the first time since their final performance as a band at V Festival in Stafford back in 2009 with talk of a run of ten shows in London at Wembley stadium and Manchester shows at Heaton Park plus a potential Glastonbury headline slot.
These big shows have been rumoured for years but it seems suddenly everything feels lined up. The ten nights in Wembley will be a record beating Taylor Swift’s eight nights.
Nothing is confirmed yet but Liam Gallagher’s amusing and cryptic replies on Twitter like replying to one fan who complained that Heaton Park was not a great venue with the quip ‘See you down the front you big fanny’ and in an isolated tweet “I never did like that word former’ adding further fuel to the fire and tonight in Reading festival he dedicated a song to ‘Noel ‘fucking’ Gallagher’.
At his headline slot in Leeds festival Liam quipped just before playing ‘Half The World Away’ “It is very interesting init? It is a very interesting situation we’ve found ourselves in.”
As ever nothing is clear cut with the volatile band but this is the closest yet. Late Sunday evening both Liam and Noel’s Twitter feeds posted a cryptic image about Tuesday Aug 27th at 8 in the morning – an announcement ? Game on?
