‘Muslims don’t insult their clerics’ – Odumodublvck cautions Christian youths attacking Pastor Adeboye

0

Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck criticizes ongoing social media criticism towards Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

Adeboye faced severe criticism on social media after allegedly stating that “Nigeria’s problems are spiritual,” as reported by MUSICNESTRADIO.

However, reacting to the backlash against the RCCG leader, Odumodublvck noted that Muslims don’t insult their clerics the way Christians do.

He said Adeboye deserves to be respected by Christian youths even by the virtue of his age.

On his X handle, Odumodublvck wrote: “Pastor Adeboye never insulted no one on this app.

“You do not see Muslims come out to insult their clerics. Then later we complain that our religion is being stepped on.

“Even based on age wise, una no fit follow una papa talk the way una dey follow Adeboye talk. And he senior una papa and mama.

“That’s why I never rated you n*ggas on this app. Una double standards choke.”

The Tinubu administration is not to blame for the economic difficulties. – Sanusi

0

Former Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mohammed Sanusi, has said it is an injustice to blame the administration of President Bola Tinubu for the current economic hardship the country is facing.

Sanusi said the country is battling a failing economy due to mismanaged economic policies of the past eight years.

He stated this while speaking virtually on Sunday at a religious event in Abuja.

He said he would not join those who are bent on criticising Tinubu over the current economic challenges in the country.

Sanusi said, “I have been, over the years, talking about the pending crisis ahead of the current economic hardship. Any economist who has studied monetary policy in the last eight years knows that Nigerians will fall into this difficult situation.

“The difficult situation Nigerians are facing is just the beginning (if the right decision is not put in place) because Nigeria is not exceptional; such situations happened in Germany, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and Venezuela.

“The previous administration turned adamant about our appeal for corrective measures (on the economic policy). I have said in the presence of the now sitting president in Kaduna state, any politician who tells you that things will be easy, don’t vote for him because he is lying. People merely dismissed my advisory as a political statement.

“If I am to be fair and just to President Bola Tinubu, he is not to blame for the current hardship; for eight years, we were living a fake lifestyle with huge debt from foreign and domestic debts. The Central Bank of Nigeria owes over N30 trillion, which resulted in debt service surpassing 100 percent.

“I can’t join other Nigerians criticising Tinubu on the current economic hardship, and I am not saying he is a saint free from wrongdoing, but in this current economic situation, President Tinubu is not to be blamed. I will also speak if I see any wrong economic policy of the Tinubu administration in the future, Stated.

He added that Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidy should be applauded.

He said, “It’s injustice for anyone to blame the Tinubu administration for the current economic hardship because there is no other alternative than the removal of the fuel subsidy. After all, Nigeria cannot even afford to pay the subsidy. In the last eight years, the Central Bank continued to print more money, and the naira continued to depreciate. There is too much naira in circulation because the CBN is printing the currency without restraint.

“The economy was poorly managed, and they are not willing to take advice; in the last eight years, apart from sycophancy, nothing has been done; those sycophants are those buying the dollar at the rate of N400 and selling it at the rate of N600 to N700.

“A boy who has no record of service has a private jet and owns houses in Dubai and England just because he is buying dollars at so a rate and selling them.

“I can only plead with the people to endure the hardship, and those who have the means to help the downtrodden should do so.

“I am also pleading with commoners to live according to their earnings; we must not peg our lives above our earnings in this difficult situation where people are looking for what to eat.”

During his inaugural speech in 2023 after the general elections, Tinubu announced the removal of fuel subsidy.

He stated that the country could no longer maintain it, noting that the trillions of naira yearly spent to sustain the subsidy were meant to better the healthcare and transportation sector, schools, housing, and national security, among others.

However, following the removal, Nigerians had been thrown into hardship from the soaring cost of food to increased drug prices.

This prompted many citizens in some states like Kano, Osun and Niger to protest against the high cost of food items and other essential commodities.

The protesters claimed that the harsh economic situation has caused untold hardship to the masses in the state.

0

Nigeria suffered a 2-1 defeat to the hosts on Sunday. Expressing his views on his X handle, Bovi attributed the defeat to Coach Peseiro’s tactical decisions.

He faulted Peseiro’s strategy of relying on defense rather than attack, stressing that he would have still been pissed even if Nigeria had won.

Economic hardship: CBN’s efforts already yielding results — Cardoso

0

The Central Bank of Nigeria has stated that its efforts were beginning to yield results to ease the economic situation in the country.

The governor of the apex bank, Olayemi Cardoso, made this known on Friday when he appeared alongside the economic team before the Senate Committee on Finance, Banking, Insurance, and Financial Institutions.

The Senate had summoned the economic team including the CBN governor, Minister of Finance, Wale Edun; the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Agriculture, Abubakar Kyari, to address the current economic situation and more importantly, the free fall of the Naira and hike in prices of food.

While addressing the degradation of the naira, Cardoso said, “Distinguished Senators, these measures, aimed at ensuring a more market-oriented mechanism for exchange rate determination, will boost foreign exchange inflows, stabilize the exchange rate, and minimize its pass-through to domestic inflation.

“Indeed, they have already started yielding early results with significant interest from Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) that have already begun to supply the much-needed foreign exchange to the economy.

“For example, upwards of $1 billion in the last few days came in to subscribe to the Nigeria Treasury Bill auction of 1 trillion Naira which saw an oversubscription earlier this week.

He added, “Our measures aimed at improving USD supply into the Nigerian economy, have significant potential in taming the volatility of the exchange rates. However, for these measures to be sustainable, we must moderate our demand for FX as a country.”

“We no longer have faith in you” — Nigerians react to strike notice, ultimatum issued by Labour

0

This notice of a 14-day strike is a response to the federal government’s failure to fulfill the 16-point agreement made on October 2, 2023. It stems from a meeting in Abuja where both the National Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, represented by their presidents, Comrade Joe Ajaero and Comrade Festus Odidi, jointly issued a statement. They emphasized that the lack of implementation has increased Nigeria’s hardships.

In reaction to this, many Nigerians appear disillusioned with these unions and are venting their frustrations on social media.

A Facebook user @Chimaco Onwuama reacted, “The same people with different names, organizations and representatives, we are not expecting anything positive from your warning and meeting.”

@Slyvester Confidence Baiyeri said, “The same people with different names, organizations and representatives, we are not expecting anything positive from your warning and meeting.”

@Micheal Agbabo commented, “Nobody takes you seriously again.”

“That was then, the lion no get teeth again”, @Chiemezie Njoku reacted.

@Emmy Suo Allred expressed his grievances commenting, “Inconsistent Union! They are all after stomach infrastructure not for the interest of those they represent.”

Nigerians on Twitter also expressed their unbelief in the unions’ declaration of the 14-day strike ultimatum given to the federal government.

I don’t believe that anyone is listening to your call anymore. The NLC has cried wolf several times & therefore lost whatever advantage they might have over the government.. — Dr. Tim Faden (@Manindemirrow2) February 8, 2024

Has NLC and TUC waken up from their deep sleep or they still want to use the suffering Nigerians for their personal bidding?? Mmmttteeewwwuuu. — Titus Ishaya (@TitusIshaya4) February 8, 2024

STATE OF THE NATION: Tinubu’s agenda for Renewed Hope is transitioning into renewed frustration Ex-APC vice chair – Ex APC Vice Chairman

0

Salihu Lukman, the former National Vice Chairman, Northwest, of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has expressed that President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ appears to be swiftly transforming into ‘renewed anger.’

Lukman, in response to the recent protests in Minna and Kano concerning the escalating cost of living, characterized the situation as a wake-up call for the Federal government.

He criticized Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, for trying to distort reality by attributing the protests to opposition sponsorship, even in areas traditionally supportive of the party.

The ex-APC Vice Chair said instead of blaming some imaginary opposition parties, the APC leadership and government should simply take responsibility.

“If the truth must be told, there is hunger in the land! As a committed member of APC, it is very depressing that this is happening under the leadership of our party.

“Even more depressing was the statement issued by Mr. Felix Morka, our National Publicity Secretary, alleging that opposition parties are behind the protests.

“For Mr. Morka to issue such a very dishonest statement points to only one thing – that the leadership of our party has completely lost it and at this rate their political utility value is zero. This clearly suggests that even the old pretenses about being progressive have been thrown to the dogs,” he added.

According to him, the protests, coming less than a year into the President Bola Tinubu administration, call for urgent response by the government.

He said that such a response must as a matter of necessity address existing realities whereby prices of goods and services, especially food items, are astronomically going up, almost on hourly basis.

Adejoké Bakare achieves a historic milestone as The First Black Female Michelin-Starred Chef In The UK

Adejoké Bakare harbored a lifelong passion for cooking. During the 1990s, she moved to the United Kingdom to pursue a degree in microbiology at university. After various positions in health and safety, followed by a role at a property management company, she finally realized her culinary aspirations. Her journey in the culinary world commenced with a supper club, initially organized for her friends’ encouragement.

Talking about how she started, she told Great British Chefs ‘My friends all knew that I’d always wanted to cook. I’d always call them up at the weekends and invite them over for a meal. For me, it was all about that joy of feeding people, the noise and the buzz of it all. They’d always say, ‘oh you should do this for a living’ and so when supper clubs started to be a big thing in around 2016, I thought I’d give it a try. My very first one was at Well Street Kitchen in Hackney and it was pretty much all friends and family there, with everyone helping out. The response was great but I was worried it might just be a case of people being nice, so I decided it wasn’t for me.’

With the success of the supper clubs, Adejoké applied for a Brixton Kitchen competition in 2019. The competition had a category open to amateurs, with a prize of a six-month restaurant residency in Brixton Village. With her skills and passion, she advanced to the final stage, impressing the panel with her cookery. Her approach was a unique blend of different West African flavours, inspired by a wide variety of different food influences and her childhood experiences – growing up in northern Nigeria with a Yoruba mother and an Igbo father.

In April of that year, she was announced as the winner of the competition, with mentor Jackson Boxer describing her as ‘completely compelling as a cook and a host’. Adejoké’s culinary journey reached a milestone in 2020 when she opened her restaurant, ‘Chishuru,’ in Brixton Village, which she later relocated to a larger and permanent site in Fitzrovia in September 2023. In 2023, she was shortlisted in the Chef to Watch category at the National Restaurant Award.

From the little girl who watched her grandmother make Nigerian street food such as dodo ikire, to running a supper club, to her West End restaurant that has helped bring West African cooking into the mainstream, the self-taught chef, Adejoké Bakare has now won a Michelin star. She becomes the first black female Michelin-starred chef in the UK and the second black female Michelin-starred chef in the world.

In her reaction to the British daily newspaper, Guardian, Adejoké said her achievement felt “quite surreal”. “It hasn’t sunk in yet,” she remarked. “Until this morning I was just focused on enjoying the accolade itself, which I’m hugely honoured by. But seeing reactions on social media today, I’m starting to feel a weight of responsibility on my shoulders too, it’s lovely.”

Congratulations to Adejoké Bakare.
