How Can Automation Bring A Transformative Change In HR Processes

0

The human resource industry has ushered in automation in its processes, which can lead to greater efficiency and fewer delays. HR can now devote more time to human-centric tasks as automation takes care of the rest.

Here, we will look at how companies can achieve greater efficiency through HR automation.

Recruitment

Automation can help recruiters post on job boards while ensuring new hires have all the required information. Creating a separate offer letter for every new joiner is another time-consuming aspect that can be automated easily. When a company decides to automate unproductive admin tasks, its HR can allocate its time and resources to more deserving avenues.

Onboarding

Most of the manual work is done in the onboarding process, increasing the chances of human errors. Automation can be introduced for tasks like checking if the employment contracts have been prepared and remitted, setting up training schedules, document verification, providing new hires with tool access, signing forms, raising device requests, etc. HR automation offers management a simple flowchart to refer to and cross-check during onboarding. This includes creating approval workflows, sending automatic notifications, generating official PDF documents, and more.

Training

Employees at every level usually undergo mandatory training every year. You can automate your HR processes with Lucca and assign the course to all the employees without the manual intervention of company HR. The employees can be enrolled in the organization’s Learning Management System to receive new training modules and reminders for timely completion.

Performance Management

Automation can help with correct decision-making regarding performance-related goals while removing bias. This gives managers the proper feedback, which they can refer to while delivering employee feedback during annual review meetings. Data collection and compilation are extremely time-consuming activities. Giving managers access to an automated Performance Management System can help them get one-click employee feedback. Even employees can benefit from automated performance management as these tools serve as a database for storing all work-related records, including recognitions, milestones, and more. They can refer to the same and present it to their managers during the review meetings.

Offboarding

When an employee decides to resign from the job, the HR undertakes an offboarding process. With the help of automation, HR can ensure that the employee holds all the necessary documents regarding their benefits, final pay, and the like during offboarding. This helps establish a positive exit experience for the employee. Though the offboarding process is often overlooked, it can impact the company’s goodwill if tackled correctly. Automation can help reduce the time taken and errors committed by employees while protecting the company from a security and compliance standpoint.

Conclusion

HR plays a significant role in shaping an organization’s success. It oversees the recruitment, training, onboarding, and offboarding processes. A company cannot run smoothly without an effective HR department. However, numerous HRs complain of towering paperwork and administration work requiring manual processing. If you wish to save time and maximize productivity, it’s best to try out automating HR functions.

Deliveroo releases 99p burger for uni students on Freshers' week

0

WITH Freshers’ week about to begin, Deliveroo has served up a treat for uni students.

The food delivery service has released 99p burgers to fuel hungry uni students like never before.

1

Love Island legend and ex-University of Liverpool grad Chloe Burrows kicked off the 99b burger week

Featuring a lean beef burger patty, kimchi, cheddar cheese, gochujang cabbage and carrot slaw and curly spring onions sandwiched between a sweet potato bun.

The Boost Burger has been designed to help uni students get through their first week.

The Boost Burger aims to fuel the half of the uni students who are worried about not having enough energy for Fresher’s Week, with late nights spent socialising followed by early-morning lectures.

The cheap burger comes at the perfect time with two in five uni students admitting that a takeaway is their go-to way to cheer themselves up when feeling run down.

The burger has been created in collaboration with registered nutritionist Jenna Hope.

Jenna helped develop the recipe, which incorporates healthy and nutritional ingredients, selected with busy uni students in mind.

The creation is packed with nutritional ingredients including protein to support energy requirements.

It also contains vegetables and spices like chia seeds picked for texture and nutty flavour, red and white cabbage, spring onion, and pumpkin powder for an added crunch.

Fermented ingredients such as kimchi and Korean gochujang give this must-have a satisfying ‘spicy’ flavour.

Arabella Jenkins from Deliveroo said: “What better way to kick off Fresher’s than to announce that our university student club, Deliveroo Students, is back with a bang.

“To celebrate, we’re dropping a 99p ‘Boost Burger’ packed full of nutrients to help fuel student members across the UK – the ultimate saver meal for uni students in more ways than one.

“We hope this is great news for fresher’s as our research reveals around a third of uni students don’t have time to cook meals during Fresher’s Week.

“More than a quarter of students admitting they don’t eat enough fruit and veg in the first week of uni, while a further quarter say they tend to feel tired after week one.”

COMPARING BASKETS

Shoppers are increasingly using delivery apps to order groceries from supermarkets.

The number of people turning to Uber Eats to get their shopping from stores such as Sainsbury’sCo-Op and Waitrose has nearly doubled over the last two years.

Many find it quicker and easier than ordering online directly with supermarkets as there is no need to book a delivery slot and the groceries usually arrive within an hour.

But apps often charge delivery and service fees, and supermarkets are also hiking the prices of their products if you order them this way.

Overall, shoppers are paying around a quarter more — up to around £7.42 extra per basket — for exactly the same goods if ordered through a delivery app.

Love Island legend and ex-University of Liverpool grad Chloe Burrows kicked off festivities this week by hand-delivering the first batch of Boost Burgers to hungry uni students in London.

She said: “I wish I had the Boost Burger when I was at university.

“It’ll come as no surprise that I was the queen of burning the candle at both ends, so it would’ve really come in handy during my time at the University of Liverpool.”

Members of Deliveroo Students can also get free delivery on orders over £15 and access to exclusive Fresher’s Week restaurant offers.

That includes 10 per cent off at Wingstop, 20 per cent off at Co-op select student favourites, and 15 per cent off at National Express all year long.

The limited-edition ‘Boost Burger’ is available via Deliveroo in London from September 17, Bristol from September 19, Manchester from September 21, and Edinburgh from September 23 while limited stocks last.

How to save on your supermarket shop

THERE are plenty of ways to save on your grocery shop.

You can look out for yellow or red stickers on products, which show when they’ve been reduced.

If the food is fresh, you’ll have to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time.

Making a list should also save you money, as you’ll be less likely to make any rash purchases when you get to the supermarket.

Going own brand can be one easy way to save hundreds of pounds a year on your food bills too.

This means ditching “finest” or “luxury” products and instead going for “own” or value” type of lines.

Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes where you can get cheap prices if they’re misshapen or imperfect.

For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50.

If you’re on a low income and a parent, you may be able to get up to £442 a year in Healthy Start vouchers to use at the supermarket too.

Plus, many councils offer supermarket vouchers as part of the Household Support Fund

How to Create Social Media Content to Get New Followers on Instagram

0

In the competitive world of Instagram, gaining new followers requires more than just posting pretty pictures.

It’s about creating content that resonates with your audience, stands out, and encourages people to hit that “Follow” button. While the quality of your content plays a crucial role, understanding the platform’s algorithms, trends, and audience behavior is essential to boost your follower count. Let’s dive into some expert strategies to help you create social media content that not only captures attention but also attracts more Instagram followers.

Understand Your Audience Before You Post

One of the biggest mistakes people make on Instagram is posting content without fully understanding their audience. Before you create a single post, take some time to analyze who your target audience is. Are they young adults interested in fashion, professionals seeking productivity tips, or foodies on the hunt for the latest culinary trends?

Understanding your audience allows you to craft content that appeals directly to their interests, needs, and desires. The more relevant and tailored your posts are, the more likely your audience will engage and, most importantly, follow your account.

Use Instagram’s built-in analytics tools (Instagram Insights) to analyze your existing followers, check when they are most active, and see which posts resonate the most. Once you have a clear picture of your audience, you can align your content to their preferences, making it much easier to attract new followers who share similar interests.

Create Visually Engaging Content

Instagram is a visual platform, and in order to grow your followers, your content needs to stand out visually. High-quality images and videos are non-negotiable. Whether you’re using professional photography or your smartphone, ensure that your visuals are crisp, vibrant, and compelling.

Here are a few tips for creating visually engaging content:

  • Stick to a theme: Use consistent colors, tones, and styles in your posts to create a cohesive look for your profile.
  • Utilize Reels and Stories: These short-form video formats are becoming increasingly popular and offer a dynamic way to showcase your content.
  • Post high-quality images: Ensure that your photos and videos are clear, properly lit, and appealing to the eye. Bright, well-composed images will always grab more attention than dark or blurry ones.

A strong aesthetic gives your Instagram profile a professional and polished feel, which can be a key factor in convincing potential followers to stay on your page and hit that “Follow” button.

Consider Buying Followers to Jumpstart Growth

While organic growth is always preferred, there’s no denying that buying followers can provide a quick boost, particularly for accounts that are just starting out. When done correctly, buying Instagram followers can make your account appear more established and credible, helping you attract organic followers more easily.

But it’s crucial to approach this strategy wisely. Make sure to buy followers from reputable services that offer real accounts, as fake followers can harm your engagement rates and may even get your account penalized.

A sudden increase in followers can also create a snowball effect. When potential followers see a high follower count, they are more likely to trust and follow your account. However, keep in mind that buying followers is just one piece of the puzzle; you’ll still need to consistently produce quality content and engage with your audience to maintain and grow your follower base.

If you’re considering this approach, take the time to research services and ensure you are getting value for your investment. Once your follower count gets a boost, focus on creating meaningful content and use strategies like more Instagram followers through organic growth techniques to sustain your momentum.

Harness the Power of Hashtags

Hashtags are a powerful tool to expand the reach of your Instagram posts. They help your content become discoverable to users who don’t already follow you. In 2023, Instagram allows up to 30 hashtags per post, but the focus should be on quality rather than quantity.

Here’s how to effectively use hashtags:

  • Mix popular and niche hashtags: Popular hashtags like #love or #instagood have high visibility but also high competition. Combine these with more niche-specific hashtags that directly target your audience. For instance, if you’re a fitness coach, use hashtags like #fitlifestyle or #workouttips.
  • Follow trending hashtags: Keep an eye on trending hashtags and incorporate them into your content when relevant. This helps you tap into larger conversations and increases your chances of getting noticed by new followers.
  • Create branded hashtags: Developing a unique hashtag for your brand encourages followers to engage with your content and can help build a community around your profile.

By using hashtags strategically, you not only make your content more discoverable but also attract followers who are genuinely interested in your niche.

Engage With Your Audience

Engagement is the key to growing your follower count organically. When users see that you are actively engaging with your audience, they are more likely to feel connected to your content and your brand. This can be as simple as responding to comments, liking other people’s posts, and even initiating conversations.

  • Reply to comments: When someone takes the time to comment on your post, acknowledge them. Whether it’s with a simple “thank you” or a thoughtful response, this kind of interaction builds community and encourages others to engage.
  • Run interactive polls and quizzes in Stories: Instagram Stories offer great features like polls, quizzes, and questions. These interactive elements encourage your followers to participate and can spark conversations, leading to more engagement and exposure.
  • Collaborate with other accounts: One effective way to grow your audience is through collaborations with influencers or brands in your niche. This exposes your content to a broader audience, many of whom might become followers.

Active engagement shows potential followers that your account is lively and that you value interaction, making it more attractive for them to follow.

Conclusion

Creating social media content that attracts new followers on Instagram requires a combination of creativity, consistency, and strategy. From crafting visually stunning posts to leveraging hashtags and engaging with your audience, each step plays a role in building a loyal follower base. And while organic growth is always valuable, tools like buying followers can help jumpstart your account’s visibility.

By following these steps, you’ll not only grow your Instagram followers but also build a stronger, more engaged community around your content. In the ever-competitive Instagram landscape, staying authentic and engaging will always be the most effective strategy for success.

Scientists investigating Titan submersible reveal explosive new details about fault that killed crew

0

Scientists investigating the doomed Titan submersible have uncovered shocking new details about what may have caused the catastrophic implosion.

The original theory was that the vehicle exploded from within due to a vulnerability in the exterior that could not withstand the extreme pressure of the deep-sea.

But now, a scientist testifying in a hearing about the tragedy has said that Titan malfunctioned days before the fatal mission to the Titanic in June 2023.

The malfunction caused passengers onboard to ‘tumble about’ and one crew member crashed into the bulkheading, which a physicist has claimed was where water first began to flow into Titan, according to Dr Steven Ross.

An astrophysicist analyzed the newly released footage of OceanGate’s Titan wreck on the seafloor, speculating that the submersible did not implode from the center as many have suggested

This new theory aligns with the conclusion made by an independent researcher who reviewed footage of the wrecked sub released this week.

Scott Manley, an astrophysicist, suggested a faulty connection at the front between the carbon fiber of the hull and titanium ring, the location of the bulkheading, caused the explosion.

The Titan submersible disappeared on June 18, 2023, but the team involved in its development are now standing trial for the event that killed all five crew members.

Dr Ross testified  in front of a US Coast Guard pane on Thursday, saying the that when the malfunction happened, ‘One passenger was hanging upside down. The other two managed to wedge themselves into the bow end cap.’

The former scientific director for OceanGate said he did not know if an official assessment was conducted of Titan’s hull before it dove into the Atlantic, but ensured the staff were competent people.

But days later, Titan was lowered into the Atlantic and the malfunction has stayed a secret until today.

If the failure had occurred in the middle, Manley explained that the water would have propagated in both directions and left carbon fiber debris in the front and rear portions of the submersible.

Footage of the wreck showed only carbon debris in the center of the hull, with the nose cone found without surrounding debris and the tail blasted off to the side.

‘Based on what I know and what I see here, the pressure hull failed at the glue join between the carbon fiber and the titanium ring on the front of the sub, that failure propagated backward with the water pushing everything into the rear of the cabin in milliseconds,’ Manley shared on X.

‘The front just popped off, the bolts used to hold it in probably snapped due to the water rushing in, and the window shot out, no idea where that is.’

Manley explained his theory further in a YouTube video, suggesting that failure began at the front bulkhead that subdivided the submersible’s interior into watertight compartments.

And with the Titan, this region is a large, silver ring made of titanium.

The Titan submersible disappeared on June 18, 2023. There were five people inside the vehicle when it imploded

The astrophysicist, who also works as a programmer for Apple, said that water began pushing in that region and created a crack that started spreading towards the back of the submersible.

That caused the hull to also push backward and the sides to squish inwards.

‘What’s happening now equally you got waters rushing in through [the front gap] and the front nose, which popped the window out,’ said Manley, noting that is why the window was missing from the nose cone on the seafloor.

He continued to explain that the water rushing in essentially tore the submersible apart from the inside out.

The water then smashed into the rear bulkhead, which forced the cone-shaped tail to be separated from the rest of Titan.

‘So, what you are left with is [rear ring] and a bunch of carbon fiber debris,’ Manley continued.

Scott Manley, who has a Master of Science in computational physics computational physics, noted that the front nose was found without surrounding debris that suggested the issue happened in the front of Titan

And that was what was seen in the newly released footage.

The titanium rings were fastened using an adhesive that works like an epoxy glue layered on by hand.

However, this is the same process by the US Navy when building its submersibles.

‘You need to have the titanium section and carbon fiber section agree in how they flex when pressure is applied,’ said Manley.

‘Otherwise, what will happen is you will get a transfer you will get extra stress.

‘If that was off by a few percent, then that could add up to extra stress at these interfaces.

‘But it could also be that the glue was crap and it fell apart.’

John Higgins became only the second snooker player to reach 1,000 career centuries

John Higgins became only the second snooker player to reach 1,000 career centuries despite crashing out of the English Open in Brentwood.

The 49-year-old Scot achieved the milestone with breaks of 108 and 105 in the third and fifth frames of his quarter-final clash against Mark Allen.

But it was not enough to seal a win that would have boosted his hopes of staying in the top 16 as Allen – who hit a century of his own in the opening frame – held firm in a gruelling decider to edge a 4-3 win.

Ronnie O’Sullivan is the only other player to have reached the four-figure century milestone, having done so in the final frame of his 2019 Players Championship final win over Neil Robertson.

Earlier, Judd Trump set up a quarter-final clash with China’s Wu Yize after hitting back from behind to claim a 4-2 win over Fan Zhengyi.

The world No 1 nudged one closer to joining O’Sullivan and Higgins in the thousand-century club as he reeled off a break of 101 in the course of winning three frames in a row to extend his winning run.

Mark Selby held his nerve to carve out a 4-3 win over Si Jiahui and book a last-eight meeting with India’s Ishpreet Singh Chadha, who also overcame a final frame decider against China’s He Guoqiang.

Anthony Joshua’s heavyweight showdown with Daniel Dubois takes place on Saturday September 21 live on Sky Sports Box Office. Book Joshua v Dubois now!

New Fuel Price Has Made Impracticable N70,000 Minimum Wage- Ajaero – Independent Newspaper Nigeria

0

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has stated that the recent hike in the fuel price has made impracticable the new minimum wage of N70,000, describing the situation as pathetic.

Comrade Joe Ajaero, the President of the NLC, while speaking at the 2024 National Minimum Wage Implementation Workshop for South Zone, yesterday, said the hike in fuel price by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has worsened the misery of Nigerians.

The NLC President also lamented government’s failure to repair local refineries as promised, adding that what Nigerians witnessed in the last two weeks was a deliberate attempt to frustrate Dangote.

Ajaero, said the theme of the workshop, “Strategies for Effective Implementation of the 2024 National Minimum Wage Act,” is designed to equip the unions with the tools they need to make that fight successful.

He said: “Our goal is not just to celebrate the passage of the law but, to make sure every worker feels its impact in their daily lives.

“And that responsibility rests with each of you here. You are the vessels through which this victory will be delivered to our members. You must be strong, focused, and unwavering.

“Let me take a moment to remind us all: the strength of our movement lies not only in our resolve but in the integrity with which we conduct ourselves.

“Our hands must remain unsullied, our hearts pure, so that when the enemies of our movement come—as they will; they will find nothing to use against us. Comrades, you have   it firsthand”.

On his recent arrest by the security agency, he said: “Recently, I was arrested and detained by the state, a clear attempt to intimidate and silence our movement.

“They hoped to find wrongdoing, but we have kept faith alive. We must all do the same.

“On the 29thof August, we honoured the summons of the State to answer to some allegations and on the 25th of this month; we shall honour another one –this time at the Police Headquarters in Abuja.

“As we therefore, prepare for the struggles ahead, remember: they can imprison our bodies, but they cannot imprison our spirit.

“They can throw every obstacle on our path, but they cannot destroy our unity. We must be vigilant, united, and ready to stand firm in the face of whatever may come.

“Together, we will overcome. Together, we will deliver the 2024 National Minimum Wage Act to our members, no matter the challenges”, he said.

Cardiff taxi drivers could carry bandages for stab wounds

0

RAPAID RAPAID sticker in a taxiRAPAID

About 50 taxis will carry the kits in the first phase of the rollout

Taxis carrying military-standard bandage kits for stab wounds could soon be on the streets in parts of south Wales.

A charity run by an ex-soldier and police officer hopes to issue 50 kits to cabbies in Cardiff, as part of an expanding network that includes six other UK cities.

Kits carried by taxi drivers, identified by stickers on their vehicles, could then be flagged down by members of the public if they are assisting anyone with a stab wound.

“It’s a grim fact that you can bleed to death in under five minutes,” said Alex Chivers, co-founder of Rapaid.

“The quicker treatment begins, the better your chances of survival.”

Thousands of Rapaid kits are already in circulation around London, Manchester, Oxford, Exeter, Swindon and Plymouth, with Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan being the next areas to benefit.

The kits include bandages designed to stem serious blood loss, with Mr Chivers saying that having them as accessible as possible to the public was a priority.

“From my experience as a police officer and the military, it’s normally the public that are the first people on scene before anybody arrives, before help comes,” he said.

“It’s those first golden minutes that people need something.

Rapaid Alex ChiversRapaid

Alex Chivers’ experience with the military and the police convinced him that the bandages could also be of use to the public in helping stab victims

“I just thought to myself, why have the public not got access to these bandages, and how can we get them out into the public domain?

“Taxis are in and out of our communities day and night, they’re on all the high streets at night time. They’re outside all the hot spots.”

Figures show hospital admissions in Wales for assault with sharp objects has dropped recently, with 60 admissions in the year up to March 2024.

This was a 19% reduction on the previous year (74), and a 50% drop on the figures from five years ago (121).

Rapaid RAPAID kit in taxiRapaid

Taxi drivers would not require training on how to use the kits, said Mr Chivers – simply have them at hand for those who needed them

The number of knife and sharp instrument offences recorded by police in Wales has also fallen slightly from a high of 1,680 in 2019-20, although the figures last year (1,584 offences) remained more than twice as high as they were a decade ago.

And with about half of those offences committed in the South Wales Police area, Mr Chivers admitted knife crime was still a problem within some communities.

“It’s better to have the kits and not need them, but if one bandage saves one life, then we’ve achieved what we want,” he said.

The kits are not reserved only for victims of knife crime, however, with Mr Chivers saying that kits had already been used across the country for other injuries as well, such as those involving drunk revellers or broken glass.

The aim was not to burden taxi drivers with more responsibility, he added, and they could simply “hand them over” to bystanders helping someone in need.

Stickers in the window would identify those taxis carrying the kits, with those in Cardiff also including bilingual instructions to use the bandages and help the injured person.

“What I’d love to see is that these are on the taxis across the whole country, and it just becomes normal that they carry these,” said Mr Chivers.

Rapaid RAPAID kitRapaid

The Rapaid kits in Cardiff will include instructions for the public on how to use the bandages, in both English and Welsh

“People have already been saved. It’s just such a simple idea.”

The scheme, launched in Cardiff on Friday, already has the backing of the council, taxi drivers and South Wales Police.

“The authority are delighted that drivers in the city will be able to carry these kits and for the campaign to be available in the city,” said Rhys Morgan, from Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan licencing section.

He added: “Having the tools available across the city to assist in preparedness and response to serious accidents or emergencies is a step forward in providing support to the wider daytime and nighttime economy in the city.”
