“She understands us”. That’s how Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels described the German film-maker Leni Riefenstahl, who died in 2003, at the age of 101.
It turns out she did. Even though she insisted to the end that her award-winning films were only ever about the art, a new documentary – called “Riefenstahl” – finds out how she covered up her central role in the Third Reich.
