Around a thousand prisoners in England and Wales won’t be eligible for early release after the Prime Minister said he was tightening the rules, and suspending the provisions until October.
But despite concerns from the victims of serious crimes like manslaughter and domestic abuse, the Government said it would have to continue with the plans in order to tackle severe prison overcrowding.
