The storm first hit UK shores at 3pm yesterday, arriving on the southwest coast.

According to the Met Office, things are set to intensify, with weather warnings in place from midnight until the end of the day.

The rain warning will affect southern and eastern parts of Britain, with heavy rain expected to lead to heavy flooding.

The Met Office has warned that floods will lead to difficult driving conditions, delays to public transport and flooding.

Sea fronts on the west coast of England and Wales will be battered until around 3pm today.

The majority of the south coast, stretching from Plymouth to Brighton, faces heavy rain until roughly 6pm.

A yellow wind alert remains in place for London and the east of England until midnight tonight, with travel chaos expected.

The east coast, including Norwich and Hull, will continue to face heavy rain until around 9pm tonight.

Strong winds could lead to power cuts, injury and danger to life from flying debris and damage to buildings.

Public transport could be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations to be expected.

The Met Office has warned that delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are also likely.

Short-term power loss in some regions is possible, with Brits urged to prepare by carrying batteries and torches with them.
