Four Tet has unveiled his latest release, ‘Into Dust (Still Falling)’, out now via XL Recordings. The track reworks Mazzy Star’s cult 1993 slow-burner ‘Into Dust’ into a shimmering, future-facing soundscape, fusing the ambient haze of the original with his own signature electronic pulse.
Long teased in Four Tet’s live sets across the globe, from low-lit clubs to festival main stages, the single arrives with a limited edition 12″ vinyl and a screen-printed T-shirt featuring the artwork. Despite ‘Into Dust’ never being released as a standalone single, the original climbed the UK Singles Chart multiple times, most recently in 2009 after soundtracking a widely seen TV ad. Now, over three decades on, it is getting a reverent revisit through the hands of one of electronic music’s most influential figures.
The release highlights a growing conversation between electronic and indie traditions. With artists like Four Tet and Fred again.. weaving vintage shoegaze, dream-pop, and lo-fi textures into club-rooted music, we’re seeing an era where beloved tracks are being sampled and resurrected. ‘Into Dust (Still Falling)’ reanimates melancholy with a new rhythmic vocabulary. In a landscape increasingly shaped by cross-pollination, this collision of dreamy indie and digital minimalism feels both inevitable and quietly radical.
Four Tet is set to appear at Glastonbury this month, with major dates lined up across Europe, Japan, the US, and South Africa – including two nights at London’s Alexandra Palace this November.
