Louder Than War Live returns to Manchester in March 2027 with a full-day celebration of the vital, noisy and fiercely independent music that has always been at the heart of Louder Than War.
Taking place at Manchester Academy on Saturday 13 March 2027, the festival brings together established names, cult favourites and some of the most exciting emerging artists from across the UK and beyond.
Heading the first announcement are indie legends The Wedding Present. One of the great survivors of British independent music, David Gedge’s band have spent four decades perfecting their exhilarating collision of chiming guitars, emotional intensity and glorious noise, remaining every bit as compelling a live proposition as ever.
Joining them are Brighton’s Demob Happy, whose psychedelic, riff-heavy rock has established them as one of the country’s most formidable live bands, alongside King No-One, whose fiercely independent approach and euphoric alternative pop has built them a devoted audience.
The bill then dives headlong into the new underground.
thistle. bring their own uncompromising energy to the festival, while Irish instrumental duo BICURIOUS arrive with their explosive combination of math-rock precision, post-rock dynamics and sheer physical power.
Also appearing are JOOLS, alongside the darkly glamorous Freya Beer, whose cinematic rock’n’roll mixes gothic atmosphere, punk attitude and classic songwriting.
Completing the first announcement are Ishango Bone, [slab] and Versaints, adding still more different textures to a bill deliberately designed to reflect the breadth of the current alternative music scene.
And this is only the beginning.

Louder Than War Live was created as a physical extension of the spirit behind Louder Than War itself: a festival where legendary independent artists can share a stage with bands who may be playing much further up festival bills in the years ahead.
Rather than simply repeating the familiar festival circuit, Louder Than War Live 2027 is about discovery — bringing different generations of alternative music together and putting new artists in front of audiences hungry to find their next favourite band.
From indie and post-punk to psychedelia, noise-rock, goth, punk and the difficult-to-categorise sounds emerging from the underground, the festival celebrates music that exists because somebody had the nerve to do things differently.
