Imagine what the lovechild of 80’s/90’s popular combo’s Ned’s Atomic Dustbin and Power Of Dreams would sound like? Imagine no more…
Spoon Speaker Man are comprised of Craig Walker, singer, songwriter and guitarist of the iconic Dublin band and drummer of Stourbridge’s finest Dan Worton. The pair first crossed paths in 1991 during extensive tours with their afromentioned bands and remained firm friends ever since through their shared passion for music. Over 30 years later this has now culminated in a thrilling new project, joining forces to record their debut album The Age Of No Opinion.
They’ve just released the debut single, The Age Of No Opinion, the titular track which explores the effects of modern media on our surroundings whilst driving home the reality of its effects on our judgement. Perfectly accompanied by powerful and compelling guitar hooks, a pulsating bass line and pounding drums.
This nostalgic instrumentation is an acute acknowledgement of both Craig and Dan’s music careers. Dublin born Walker began his recording career whilst still in his teens. In the preceding years he has been a songwriter/frontman for Archive, Them There, Booka Shade, Mineral, Craig Walker And The Cold with multiple releases across a career spanning four decades. Craig has also written for and with a number of prominent artists including The Avener, who’s worldwide hit, Fade Out Lines was co/written by Craig and Phoebe Killdeer and been viewed over 91 million times on You Tube to date. West Midlands born Worton as well as being a founding member of Ned’s Atomic Dustbin formed the band Bouncing Bomb in which he played bass after they split. The original line up of Neds got back together 2008 and continue to perform at festivals and venues .
The Age Of No Opinion is just the beginning, the insightful and intuitive lyrics perfectly encapsulate the fear and realities of present-day and there is a whole album of thought provoking and powerful musings set to be released in October as well as a UK tour with an assembled live band, ready to ignite audiences with their infectious energy.
The pair promise album and live shows will capitivate indie music lovers worldwide with 2024 will be the year this Spoon Speaker Man start running wild.
