Miley Cyrus’ Party In The USA Originally Had These Very Different Lyrics

Since its release in 2009, Party In The USA has wound up becoming one of Miley Cyrus’ signature songs.

If you’re a fan of Miley – or pop music in general – you might already be aware that the song was actually written by another big-name star from that era, Jessie J.

But what you might not know is that the Domino singer originally wrote Party In The USA with the intention of singing it herself, before it became a hit for the former Disney star.

And because of Jessie being a Brit, her version of Party In The USA had a few different lyrics to the version we know and love today.

Hopped off the plane at LAX with my tea and my cardigan

Welcome to the land of fame and sex, am I gonna fit in?

Jumped in the cab and the driver’s on the left side, look to my right and I see the Hollywood sign

Oh my days there’s Macy’s, everybody seems so crazy

Meanwhile, Miley’s rewritten version goes:

Hopped off the plane at LAX with a dream and my cardigan

Welcome to the land of fame excess, am I gonna fit in?

Jumped in the cab here I am for the first time, look to my right and I see the Hollywood sign

This is all so crazy, everybody seems so famous

“So, it was my experience of going to LA for the first time,” Jessie told host Toby Gad.

“But obviously, when [Miley] wanted it, I was like, ‘yeah, great’. I wasn’t attached [to it] – there’s only a few songs that I’m attached to. But I just knew that she would make that song something more special than I ever could, and she did.”
