Donald Trump demanded the arrest and execution of several Democratic members of Congress after they urged military personnel to refuse unlawful orders.
“SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!” Trump posted on Truth Social on Thursday morning following hours of resharing responses to a Washington Examiner article that demanded the executions.
“HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD ! !” Truth Social user @P78 commented, responding to the Examiner’s article. Trump subsequently “reTruthed” that message.
“It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand – We won’t have a Country anymore! ! ! An example MUST BE SET. President DJT,” the president posted in an earlier message before reTruthing over a dozen responses demanding arrests or executions.
“This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS! ! ! LOCK THEM UP? ? ? President DJT,” he continued in another message.nce against either the congresspeople or the service members.
“It’s called a seditious conspiracy and every one of them should be frog marched out of their homes at 3:00 AM with FOX News cameras filming the whole thing…” @RFD3 posted. User @Larrydean093 went so far as to call the congresspeople “domestic terrorists,” which Trump agreed with.
“Domestic terrorist Democrats always causing chaos and destruction destroying people’s lives,” they wrote.
“And they can be brought to justice under the UCMJ, get busted down or Dishonorably Discharged, and lose their career and benefits. Step right into that [poop emoji]. That’s the ticket,” @DeplorableWorldNewsi added.
Several other users called the Democrats or service members following their directive “traitors” guilty of “treason” or “sedition.”
Democratic veterans urge military personnel to resist unlawful commands
At least half a dozen Democratic congresspeople, all military veterans themselves, urged service members to “refuse illegal orders” in a video this week.
Senators Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich. ) and Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) alongside Representatives Jason Crow (D-Colo. ), Maggie Goodlander (D-N.H. ), Chris Deluzio (D-Pa.) and Chrissy Houlahan (D-Pa. ) all declared that recent commands represent “threats to our Constitution” originating “from right here at home.”
The politicians failed to clarify which specific orders military personnel should reject, or what warning signs they ought to watch for.
“We are standing by our troops, our service members who are often put in very difficult positions and Donald Trump has put them in very difficult positions and has alluded to putting them in even more difficult positions in the months and years ahead, so we are reminding folks about what the uniform code of military justice says, what the Constitution says, what the law of war says,” Crow said on Fox News on Wednesday afternoon.
He referenced Trump’s previous remarks during his first presidency suggesting protesters should be shot in the leg, whilst also highlighting his recent deployment of National Guard personnel to multiple states to tackle what he termed disorder and unlawful behaviour.
“Donald Trump has made a series of very disturbing comments and suggestions that would violate U.S. law and put our military in a terrible position,” Crow, a former Army ranger, added.
“I don’t want to wait until that happens to remind our troops of this obligation because then it will be too late.”
Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth dismissed the appeals from the Democratic congresspeople as “Stage 4 TDS [Trump Derangement Syndrome].”
