Dana Air : FAAN Announces Reopening of Lagos Airport Runway

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reopened Runway 18L/36R at Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos after the recent Dana Airplane incident.

A Dana Air plane skidded off the runway on Tuesday, an incident that led the FAAN to close up the runway for safety reasons.

FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection has confirmed the reopening of the runway in an official statement.

According to the director, FAAN’s emergency response team efficiently evacuated and recovered the aircraft from the site.Comprehensive clearing operations were also carried out to remove any debris that could pose a safety risk to flights.

FAAN Operations Division and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) conducted a thorough inspection, to ensure the safety of the runway.

Following this, an official Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued to inform pilots about the reopening.

While apologising for any inconvenience caused, the FAAN has also expressed gratitude to the public, airline partners, and stakeholders for their patience and cooperation during the temporary closure.

According to its director, FAAN remains committed to ensuring a safe, secure, and efficient air transport environment for all airport users.
