The Tory Party Chairman Richard Fuller has fired off a grovelling email to party members, promising to “listen” to their “frustrations” after the party’s wipeout at the polls. More of ‘we must recognise where we went wrong’…
The email dutifully lays out a plan for “member-focused feedback sessions” in the run-up to party conference. These sessions are a chance for members to air their grievances – and there’ll be plenty – so the party can begin the long slog to rebuild “trust with the public.” Sessions will include riveting discussions on how the party can make members feel “heard” and how to learn from their opponents. Members are reassured that if they can’t make the calls, they can accost the Chairman at conference instead…

Over the summer I have been talking to members, candidates and Members of Parliament who were sadly not returned to Parliament at the General Election to get their feedback on the campaign but also on the Party more widely.
I have also been (gradually) reading more than 2,500 emails you have sent in with your thoughts, ideas, and frustrations.
The feedback received has been invaluable and what is of vital importance to me, is that every part of our Party is listened to.
Only by listening to new ideas as well as valuing experience, are we able to change our Party for the better.
Once this valuable work has been completed, we can then get on with the important job of rebuilding trust with the public so that, for the sake of the country, Sir Keir Starmer is limited to a single term in office.
That is why over the next few weeks I will be holding member focused feedback sessions, so I can hear from as many members as possible before Party Conference.
If you are not able to join one of these sessions, there will also be lots of opportunities to give me your thoughts at Conference too.
