Dillian Whyte calls out Chisora for third fight | Boxing News

DILLIAN Whyte wants to rumble with old heavyweight rival Derek Chisora for a third time. Usually, third installments are required to settle the score, but with Whyte having already beaten Chisora twice, it seems the Brixton ‘Body Snatcher’ has other reasons for re-engaging.

As Chisora has remained relevant to fight fans, providing crowd-pleasing efforts with the likes of Joseph Parker, Kubrat Pulev and Joe Joyce, Whyte has drifted away from the public eye and was last seen boxing in Castlebar, Ireland, where opponent Christian Hammer retired after three rounds.

Whyte’s last meaningful win came in November 2022, when he outpointed Jermaine Franklin over 12 rounds. A rematch with Anthony Joshua was in the works until Whyte returned a positive drug test. Dillian was later cleared to resume his career and is now calling out an old foe while rehashing the long-forgotten “donkey” jibe.

The first time Whyte and Chisora met, in 2016, Whyte won a narrow split decision following 12 rounds of intense warfare in the Manchester Arena. They went at it again in December 2018. It was a similar battle, minus the ending, where Whyte launched a thunderous left hook in round 11 to leave Chisora (who was ahead on two of the scorecards) in a heap on the canvas.

Despite that seemingly definitive ending, Whyte posted on Instagram: “Hey Derek Chisora stop horsing around and let’s do the fight am not interested in talking am just interested in putting [you] to bed again”. He ended the message with an interesting hashtag of #FOREVERDONKEY

In defence of a third meeting, Chisora would argue that he is in much better form currently and was so close to winning both of the first two fights. Derek also snared a third fight with Tyson Fury despite being soundly beaten in at least one of their first two encounters.
