Cure fans receive cryptic postcards; poster goes up at special pub

The Cure

It looks like the long wait is over. Stories have slowly appeared on social media today about select fans receiving mysterious black cards in the post embossed with the words Songs From A Lost World and the date 1st November 2024 in roman numerals. There are photographs of a large black and gold poster that has appeared this afternoon on a wall outside The Railway Inn in Crawley (previously The Rocket), where the band played their first gig as The Cure in 1978. And the man himself has now retweeted that poster image.

There seems little doubt that the highly anticipated Songs From A Lost World is finally set to make an appearance on 1st November.

The build up to this possible release continues to be slow and deliberate, with changes to the band’s logo, social media pages and website being immediately picked up by fans. It can’t be long now till there’s an official announcement.

Meantime, we’re swallowing down a sense of foreboding at the significance of the poster appearing outside the pub where it all began – hopefully not a sign that this is the beginning of the end. Again, we’ll have to wait and see.
