JoJo is hot on the promotional trail for her new memoir, ‘Over the Influence,’ and her latest stop saw her quizzed about a “cold” encounter with a former idol.
While speaking on SiriusXM’s TikTok Radio, the vocalist was asked by host Lamar Dawson about a chapter in the book in which she describes a frosty first meet with the act on MTV‘s TRL.
Drawing on strong hints given in the book, the host directly asked whether the idol in question was Christina Aguilera.

Clearly making a point to address the matter tactfully, JoJo said:
“Feeling the way this person made me feel taught me [that] I just never want to make anyone feel that way. And it made me feel like ‘damn, you don’t want to meet your idols.’
But then I had so many great experiences. Like, I talked about meeting Beyonce in the book. And she’s just like truly the most incandescent. She’s just unbelievable. So, there’s no hate in my heart towards this person nor is this a surprise with other stories we’ve heard.”

Many fans online seemed to believe that the singer was indeed referencing Aguilera. Indeed, many – on both sides – pointed to a vintage video of the pair on TRL:
