One Labour councillor’s contribution has been to praise Thorpe for speaking up “when faced with the human representative of the genocidal forces which almost wiped out your people.” Councillor Maurice Mcleod, who also regularly writes for the Guardian where he is described as an “anti-racism activist and social commentator,” tweeted his warm words along with a bizarre music video made up of photos of the King.
