As the death of the incomparable Quincy Jones continues to send shockwaves across entertainment, many of his fans – including celebrity admirers – have taken to the Web to flood social media with some of their favorite memories of the late musical genius.
Just like superstars Beyonce, Will Smith, Bruno Mars, Tyler Perry, The Weeknd, John Legend, and many more paid homage to the 91-year-old via their respective platforms, so have industry titans and icons like Oprah Winfrey, Mariah Carey, Diana Ross, Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland, Kerry Washington, Justin Timberlake, Tamia, Chaka Khan, Patti LaBelle, Stevie Wonder, Pharrell Williams, and more.
Look inside to see how they remembered Quincy.
“One day I was headed to a meeting with Quincy Jones at Jet Magazine. Little did I know I would end up on the cover with him. Upstairs in the meeting, he started talking about my music, about how much he believed in me, and I could feel my eyes well up. Here I was, standing beside the greatest, THE Quincy Jones, and he was telling everyone about MY music?! Afterward, someone said, ‘Let’s head downstairs for a photo.’ My eyes were still watery, overwhelmed by the moment and the weight of his support. There are so many memories I cherish with Quincy. I traveled the world with him; he believed in me, and because he said so, others believed too. He always told me, ‘Sing from your heart,’ and that advice has stayed with me ever since.Thirty years later, I look back so grateful for those moments and all he made possible. For a girl from Canada, being seen by someone who’d worked with the best in the world was huge. Here was this legend, who had done it all, genuinely caring about my work, my project, my dreams. I owe so much to him, and I’m proud of all we created together.Quincy, you put a move on my heart and I will never forget it,” Tamia said.
