The Maccabees are another band to add to the increasing list of reformed bands appearing again next summer. This week the announcement was made that the band last seen selling out three nights at Alexandra Palace in 2017 will be headlining East London’s All Points East in Victoria Park.
Not only do we have The Maccabees to look forward to on Sunday 24th August 2025 but Bombay Bicycle Club, Dry Cleaning, The Cribs, The Murder Capital, Divorce, Nilüfer Yanya and Prima Queen have already been confirmed to appear on the day alongside the headliners.
Marking a decade since the release of the band’s fourth album Marks To Prove It, The Maccabees are working alongside All Points East curating the complete line-up which no doubt will be a day to remember. However, it is currently unknown if further shows being planned.
In the time that The Maccabees have been apart, Orlando Weeks has become a father and has released two solo albums, whilst the White brothers have been touring with their 86TV’s project (album reviewed here).
It was at Hugo White’s wedding in February 2020 when the groom put together a covers band featuring guest spots from Jamie T, Florence Welch and Adele, but then teamed up with Orlando to play Pelican, from The Maccabees third album Given To The Wild.
“I didn’t go because it was The Maccabees playing together again, but because it was a beautiful gesture to be invited and to contribute to the spirit of the day,” said Orlando. “What I wanted, band aside, was to find a way to be in each other’s lives in some way.’’ Now, some four years later, they’re back in our lives for good.
This will certainly be a day of celebration leaving very few without more than one eye watering moment.
