LAGOS – The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) and Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, (CACOL) have expressed sadness over the death of Hon. Oladotun Olakanle, Chairman of the Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The groups, in a statement signed by Tola Oresanwo, CACOL’s Director of Administration and Programmes of the Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership, (CACOL), on behalf of Debo Adeniran, CDHK President of CDHR and CACOL Chairman, stated that groups received with shock the death of Hon. Olakanle.
It said: “We are saddened by the untimely death of this fine gentleman, a loyal party man, committed democrat, comrade and public officer, who had a deep understanding of local government administration, the civic space and the political landscape.
“Just as all of us usually attest, death is an inevitable end for all mortars. This is why it is imperative that we all live everyday as if it was the very last.
“We mourn Hon. Oladotun Olakanle with a heavy heart today, not because of his primitive or inordinate accumulation of public funds, but simply because of his commitment to service and obligations to humanity which he delivered meritoriously; living every minute of his working life in service to not only his family but other relations and humanity in general. He would certainly be sorely missed.
“CDHR and CACOL deeply regret his passage to eternity, while we pray for the fortitude to bear his irreplaceable exit.”
