Chancellor Described As ‘Currently an Economist’ When Selected by Just Eight Votes
Reeves is currently blaming her staff for the fact that her LinkedIn said she was an ‘Economist’ at HBOS before it was changed. Co-conspirators will know that doesn’t wash with what she said previously…
Guido can reveal that Reeves was described as an economist in her Leeds West selection process, while actually working in customer relations. 28-year-old Rachel was selected as Labour candidate for Leeds West on September 14th 2007 after failing to be elected down in London two elections in a row. It was an extremely tight race – Reeves got 96 votes compared to second-place Councillor Alison Lowe’s 88. A margin of eight…
Reeves is described in the Yorkshire Evening Post’s report of the event:
“Oxford-educated Ms Reeves has worked in finance in the British embassy in Washington, USA and is currently an economist with the Halifax Building Society.”
Popular local councillor Lowe said afterwards: “This was my one chance to represent West Leeds in Parliament and I will not be putting myself forward again.” Labour’s selection rulebook says “Candidates are expected to meet the highest standards of personal probity.” Would Reeves have clinched those eight votes if her local Labour party knew she was actually working as “Head of planning, customer relations” in the retail section of HBOS?
