Hermer Pulls Out of Speaking Event at Exclusive Soho Club
Richard Hermer was due to speak to members of Covent Garden’s swanky Conduit Club (£2100/annual + £475 Joining Fee) this afternoon. The Attorney General was billed for a “wide-ranging conversation” with filmmaker and activist Paul van Zyl on his “extensive career in law, social justice, and human rights.”
“The conversation will reflect on how to defend and protect the rule of law both from outside government and within. The conversation will focus on the challenges of serving as the chief legal adviser to the Crown at a time where extremism is on the rise and democracies across the globe appear to be in decline.”
Guido is sure Hermer would have had a lot to say about the challenges of his job right now. Funnily enough his included biography says “Lord Hermer has represented clients in high-profile cases before domestic courts and international tribunals.“ You bet…
Unfortunately he has pulled out of the event. All reference to it, included the quoted above, has been removed from the Conduit’s website. Guido hears Hermer cancelled due an an “urgent meeting.” Bad day at the office?
