On their first single since their Edvard Prize-winning debut, Krympende Klode (2021 Hubro), producer Jørgen Træen and guitarist and composer Stein Urheim continue their deep dive into the electro-acoustic universe. “Entrance/Exit” is less a song and more a meticulously crafted ecosystem, a place where disparate sound worlds don’t just collide but achieve a strange symbiosis. The track is the first glimpse into their upcoming sophomore album, Galant Galakse, set for an August 22nd release on Action Jazz.
Following 2021’s Krympende klode, described by the Edvard Prize jury as fun, beautiful, and thought-provoking, the duo further refines their core project: the marriage of acoustic global instruments with analog electronics. Their shared reverence for avant-garde figures like Harry Partch and Delia Derbyshire appears to remain a guiding principle while the sprawling credit list—encompassing everything from prepared piano and flutes to modular synths and “vocal sounds”—suggests a vivid picture. Despite being a relatively short journey, in under three minutes, they manage to playfully and patiently craft a soundscape that feels both ancient and from a distant future. It’s a compelling first taste and a testament to their shared experimental vision. It also proves that their brand of beautiful, thought-provoking fun was no fluke.
