What is Brava Island?
Brava is the smallest inhabited island in Cape Verde, covering just 64km². It’s a turquoise volcanic island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. A splendid place dotted with flowers. Hence its nickname “the flower island” or “the archipelago paradise”. An authentic place, distinguished by its rugged landscapes. It’s an ideal place to recharge your batteries and take a stroll, as there aren’t many tourists. The island’s main economic activities are farming and fishing.
What can you do on Brava island?
- Visit the magnificent town of Nova Sintra, the island’s capital. It is the birthplace of the famous Cape Verdean poet Eugenio Tavares.
- Discover the fishing village of Furna. It is located at the foot of the capital.
- Don’t hesitate to visit the historic village of Faja d’Agua. It’s famous for having welcomed American whalers. Sea, nature, fishing, it’s an incredible place to discover.
