Sex Pistols tickets problem

The genuine excitement of seeing Matlock, Cook and Jones playing the whole of Never Mind The Bollocks with Frank Carter on vocals to raise money for the Bush Hall fundraiser has been soured, as ever, by the antics of the ticket company…

Monday 3rd June saw the internet awash with stories of 2 x special gigs in August featuring ¾ of the original Sex Pistols line up. Fan boys (like me) and girls eagerly awaited Wednesday 5th June for the 0900hrs ticket release for the Bush Hall venue fundraiser gigs on 13th and 14th August. A worthy cause for a vulnerable venue beloved by many but especially the lads from the Pistols.

£44 seemed like a good price for such a close up (400 capacity) gig

The man himself, Steve Jones aka “jonesysjukebox” posted on instagram post (>6000 followers) “all proceeds go to Bush Hall, I can promise you it’s gonna be hot, sweaty and rocking, see ya there”. Fantastic I thought.

And the venue website said all the right things too such as “This event is for fans only and these special conditions are in place to ensure that tickets are purchased for personal use only and are not resold for profit and/or through unauthorised resale sites.” “Tickets must not be purchased with the intention of reselling them for commercial purposes and/or profit” “Only genuine mobile tickets will be accepted for entry” “Any tickets purchased, resold or offered for resale in breach of these special conditions may be cancelled and invalidated”

Well guess what.

Attempted to buy tickets at 09:00:01 this morning and none available.

No information on the Bush Hall website but glancing through the 377 comments on Jonesy’s Instagram page revealed plenty of “No John, no Pistols” and “What will John think of this” and “why Frank Carter” comments but a huge proportion of frustrated genuine fans who tried to buy tickets at 0900hrs only to be disappointed. Nobody commented that they had been successful. Not one.

Back to the Bush Hall website “you may not resell or offer to resell tickets for this event through any unauthorised resale site such as Viagogo or Stubhub, or for commercial purposes and/or profit” So how come Viagogo are advertising tickets at £271 each. And wouldn’t the difference in price have been to the benefit of the venue? It sure would.

Plenty of people have already used the “ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated” line in reference to this. But I won’t stoop that low.

I am just very disappointed.
