1. Fellow Nigerians, as we navigate these challenging times, I want to first acknowledge the pains and struggles that many of us face due to lack, hunger, and limited job opportunities. It is a time that tests our resilience and calls for unity and understanding.
2. In this light, I wish to eulogize President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his remarkable strides toward creating a conducive environment for all Nigerians. His bold initiatives, such as opening the borders, removing import duties on staple foods, and directing the NNPC to sell crude in Naira to refineries, demonstrate his commitment to boosting our economy. Additionally, his empowerment of the military to combat insurgency and his efforts to increase the minimum wage showcase his dedication to the welfare and security of every Nigerian.
3. I also commend Governor Ododo for aligning with President Tinubu’s mandate by ensuring the prompt payment of salaries and focusing on food security in our state. His commitment to these crucial areas is a testament to his dedication to improving the quality of life for all residents of Kogi State.
4. Governor Ododo’s love for the people of Kogi is further evidenced by his assurance of political empowerment for our youth and his initiatives for skills acquisition programs aimed at uplifting the vulnerable across the state. These steps are vital for fostering a more inclusive and prosperous future for our communities.
5. However, I urge caution against resorting to protests as a means of expressing discontent. While peaceful demonstrations are a democratic right, the negative effects of such protests can often outweigh their intended benefits. Unfortunately, these gatherings can be exploited by criminals and political actors to loot shops, rob homes, and destroy businesses. Such actions are detrimental to the well-being of our nation and counterproductive to our collective progress.
6. Reports indicate that up to 70% of protesters may engage in criminal activities, targeting innocent business owners who genuinely strive for the betterment of our society. This not only undermines the goals of the protest but also causes significant harm and regression to our communities.
7. In light of these concerns, I lend my voice to call for calm and dialogue. I encourage the organizers of the protest to engage constructively with the government, seeking peaceful resolutions through meaningful discussions. Together, we can work towards solutions that prioritize the well-being and progress of our nation without resorting to actions that could lead to further instability.
8. Let us stand united in our pursuit of a brighter future, recognizing that collaboration and understanding are the keys to overcoming the challenges we face.
Thank you.
