Banjul Accord Group Accident Investigation Agency (BAGAIA) and the Southern African Development Community Aviation Safety Organisation (SASO) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC).
A statement by BAGAIA said that the cooperation was signed by Engr. Charles Erhueh and Mr. Kabo Phutietsile, Commissioner, BAGAIA and SASO Executive Director, respectively at the ongoing AFI Aviation Week, holding in Libreville, Gabon.
The weeklong event started on Monday and would end on July 19, 2024.
The MoC aims at strengthening SASO and BAGAIA’s performance in terms of enhancing safe and secure civil aviation in accordance with the provisions of the convention on international civil aviation and the protocols.
Furthermore, this collaboration would aid in establishing a framework to facilitate the exchange of information and expertise between the Parties.
Also, it encourages the formalising, consolidating, promoting and sharing of experiences in aviation safety with other Regional Safety Oversight Organisations (RSOO) and Regional Accident Investigation Organisations (RAIOs).
Both parties would embark on joint participation in activities, aiming at implementing the critical elements of a state safety oversight system.
Similarly, they would build closer cooperation in the process through the harmonisation of regulations, manuals, procedures and programmes with the main objective of assisting Member States to comply with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) requirements.
