Coachella Festival has been well and truly eviscerated online after reports suggested the 2025 festival could include headliners Fred Again and Post Malone.
The California festival – which is one of the world’s biggest and most famous – has not officially confirmed its lineup yet, but fans are already deflated at some emerging news.
Post Malone, 29 – famous for hits including Sunflower and Circles – announced his Big Ass Stadium Tour on Tuesday.
While he didn’t explicitly say he would be heading to the festival, the run begins in Indio, where Coachella takes place.
Following Post Malone’s announcement, Rolling Stone claimed he is indeed heading to the festival for the Sunday performances on April 13 and 20, 2025.
After headlining Stage Coach earlier this year, a source told the publication he will play a number of his big hits and some from his country music album F-1 Trillion in what is said to be a ‘mind-blowing set’.
However, fans don’t seem quite as enthusiastic at the likely 2025 headline news.
‘Your severely declining festival had the lowest ticket sales on record this year and your big comeback save for next year is…………………. post malone. Everyone needs to be fired. top to bottom. nobody is coming,’ wrote @dxckiii in a viral post.
Others also weren’t too impressed with the rumours I Adore You hitmaker Fred Again – also rumoured for Glastonbury – would be taking a headline slot.
Last month US industry publication HITS Daily Double claimed Fred Again is a ‘lock’ for the lineup.
‘Fred again and post malone as COACHELLA headliners just sounds like my worst f**king nightmare this can’t be real,’ added @sethh_sm.
‘They honestly should have just ended the festival after Beyoncé because I’m just not interested in going after that lol,’ said @tallyohhh.
‘They needed Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter,’ suggested @getlnlosers, as @Sahra435 said: ‘Post Malone won’t save this.’
This year Lana Del Rey, Tyler, The Creator and Doja Cat headlined the festival – livestreamed on YouTube – while Skepta, Sabrina Carpenter, Blur, Grimes and Renee Rapp also performed.
Elsewhere Gwen Stefani hit up the stage for a huge reunion with her No Doubt bandmates.
However, despite a packed schedule the hype surrounding the California festival was seriously dulled this year, as tickets were still available just a week before the second weekend.
Previously, tickets disappeared within hours for the festival, but 2024 saw general admission passes going for $499 7 days ahead of festivities, while the priciest VIP option cost $1,269.
According to the LA Times, 2023 marked the first year in over a decade that both weekends didn’t sell out and 2024 sales were the slowest in a decade.
While Glastonbury and Coachella have a similar footfall – with respective crowds of 200,000 and 125,000 people – the former sold out within 36 minutes last weekend.
This comes as two of the world’s biggest artists – Kendrick Lamar and Rihanna – were reported to have declined an offer to headline this year’s Coachella.
