Coronation Street’s Liam McCheyne has thanked NHS staff after he was sent to hospital.
Liam is 17 and has a twin brother called Connor. During the introduction of his character Dylan Wilson in the early 2010s, the part was shared with Connor due to their young age.
This is commonplace in TV due to laws surrounding the amount of time children can spend on set. When the character was brought back to Weatherfield in 2022, Liam reprised the role although Connor now focusses his time on becoming a cricketer.
The resemblance between the brothers is astonishing, something which has clearly surprised fans of the show who expressed their surprise on a Coronation Street Facebook group.
Over the weekend, the young actor shared news of his hospitalisation with fans who follow him on social media.
Liam didn’t reveal why he had been under the care of doctors and nurses, but instead focused on the ‘amazing’ NHS and how we’d be in a ‘mess’ ‘without them’.
On Sunday, he wrote: ‘Morning shout out to our amazing NHS. Especially all those at the Royal Oldham who took superb care of me over the past two days.
‘What a mess we would be in without them.’
Recently in the ITV soap, Dylan discovered school bully Mason (Luca Toolan) was being released from prison.
Viewers watched in horror over Liam’s conflicted feelings as he was forced to pick on younger neighbour Liam Connor (Charlie Wrenshall) – who was almost driven to taking his own life in an effort to free himself of the bullying.
Later, Dylan and Mason were arrested for possessing a knife, and for threatening Liam with it. Mason was sent down, and Dylan has since tried his best to make amends and move forward.

Mason is now working at Speed Daal after Stu (Bill Fellows) found him sleeping rough and felt sorry for the young man.
As soon as Sean found out he marched over to the restaurant and told Stu and Yasmeen (Shelley King) they should sack Mason, the man responsible for making Liam and Dylan’s lives hell.
At the moment, Mason doesn’t look set to be going anywhere, as DS Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) has developed a bit of a crush on him.
