Following the internal crises being witnessed in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), critical stakeholders have once again held prayer session for the party in Lagos.
The stakeholders comprising members of the party, members of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwards (NAGAFF) among others converged on NAGAFF village, Apapa, Lagos for the prayer session on Thursday.
Pastor Joel Ozor, who conducted the service spoke on the message he titled: ‘Controversy’.
Citing Genesis 13: 1-14, said that no matter how good one may be, that when he or she is rising, “men must rise against you.”
He added that if you are not running after something, something must be after you. “Every great man must be ready for controversy,” he said.
Also, citing Zachariah 1:16, Pastor Ozor said that God is returning to NNPP and NAGAFF.
He prayed for the mercy of God to take over NNPP and NAGAFF.
Fielding questions from journalists on the motive behind the prayer session since it was not the first time such prayer session was being carried out for the party, Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, founder of Nagaff as well as founder of NNPP said:
“Well you have said it all. I am a child of God and I believe in God. The essence of this prayer is to call on God to intervene and bring peace into the party. I am the founder of NNPP and the founder of NAGAFF. As a father, there is no father that will like his house to be in turmoil, especially on trivial issues that are not supposed to be a problem. In that case, the urgent need for God’s intervention becomes paramount. You mentioned the Kano episode, you all know that we won election in Kano and we saw that victory eluding us due to the environment we operate, so we ran to God, and the result became quite positive. This was due to God’s intervention because we brought in God. So, this time around, the internal crises in the party is avoidable, it does not make sense to me as far as I am concerned.”
“What is it all about in the first place?, Dr. Aniebonam queried adding that he got disheartened when he saw a lot of people on television saying one thing or the other which he did not understand.
“Yet I kept quiet, not wanting to say anything. But I can recall that the time we got ourselve4s involved in all these things, was when I was in the village for the Christmas, which most of you know. At about 2 am, Buba Galadima and Senator Onwukuyi and Prof Anqwel came and said they were delegation from Kwankwaso. As at that time, I did not know who Kwankwaso was even though I used to hear about him. But the most striking among them was Buba Galadima, because everybody know him, he was always on air during Buhari time, so I was happy meeting him. So, I said, that I needed to speak to Kwankwaso, and they placed a call on him and I listened to him and said okay. I said are you a messenger of God?, he said yes. This is because NNPP is a child of God. Those of you who report maritime, you know we have come a long way, even in Nagaff as it were, we are a bit revolutionary. Trying to usher in a new order. We ended that up with the emergence of the Council For the Regulation of Freight Forwarding. That is where the job stopped and we began profiling. And for the party, what we needed is a great leader. So, this name became a god, New Nigeria Poeples Party, since 23 years ago, that somebody is advocating for a new Nigeria. I guess that everybody here is looking towards a new Nigeria because nobody is happy. Even though the present administration is doing its best. But people may not easily notice it because it is easy to destroy than to build. So, all we need to do is to make this sacrifice, which we are making now. Support the government at least for their tenure, if they do well, we return them, it they don’t we decide what to do. It is God that determines who a leader should be. I got disturbed when I saw Kwankwaso displaying a new logo of the party on television. A new flag, and mutilating the constitution without my consent, when I am still alive as the founder. That was the point I said this cannot be when I am alive. This is why I addressed the first press conference.
I am sure that at the end of the internal crises the party will become stronger,” Dr Aniebonam averred.
