Jeremy Vine has accidentally declared he’s bisexual on live TV.
The broadcaster made the blunder during today’s episode of his Channel 5 current affairs show Jeremy Vine.
During a discussion about politeness with etiquette coach and author William Hanson, it was pointed out that Jeremy writes with his left hand.
‘You are left-handed – I noticed when you were doing your drawing,’ William observed.
Jeremy, who has been married to journalist Rachel Schofield since 2002, then replied: ‘I’m bi – is it bisexual?’
Grinning at the comment and trying to hold back laughter, his guest corrected him: ‘I don’t know if you’re bisexual. Well, you could be. I don’t know, Jeremy.’
Guessing that the 59-year-old was trying to explain he could write with both hands, he said: You’re ambidextrous.’
Jeremy then went on to explain he had been trying to share how he could use different hands for different activities.
‘I can’t use both hands for everything. I write left-handed but I would play table tennis right-handed. I think that might be bidextrous. It’s really boring, actually,’ he continued.
‘I’m not the same as bisexual,’ he added after realising his mistake.
Many viewers commented on the hilarious gaffe on social media, with one declaring it ‘broadcasting gold’.
Earlier this year a court ordered former footballer Joey Barton pay Jeremy £105,000 after he was sued libel and harassment over 14 online posts, including where he called Vine a ‘big bike nonce’ and a ‘pedo defender’ on X.
A High Court judge ruled in May that 11 of the posts could defame Vine.
Following the results of the case, Barton set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for his legal fees.
Speaking outside court, Jeremy said: ‘Joey Barton has probably lost himself £450,000 with nine tweets so he needs to find himself a different hobby.
