Friendship bracelets have become a major pop culture trend in recent years thanks to Taylor Swift, as fans get creative and make the jewellery – usually spelling out her lyrics – to trade at concerts.

It’s all very wholesome and a real representation of fandoms and girlhood, as millions of people around the world attend her hit Eras Tour with arms covered in beads.

When you’re Katherine Ryan, though, well, your fans don’t make friendship bracelets…

Instead, they make friendship tampons.

The Canadian comedian, 41, is currently on tour, performing up and down the country with her Battleaxe show.

At one point during the gig, Katherine makes an unhinged joke about said friendship tampons, after which some, erm, inspired audience members have taken it upon themselves to actually create them.

Taking to Instagram, the TV personality shared a photo of one that was given to her.

It was decorated with colourful beads, the words ‘fat slag’ spelt out along the string. Nice.

Katherine wrote in her caption: ‘Really incredible seeing many of my jokes turned into #friendshiptampons for my #BattleAxe tour.❤️’

‘Can’t wait to see you all wearing them at the shows’, she quipped, adding the #Swiftie hashtag as a Taylor reference.

Responding to her picture, fans were baffled, with Instagram user babiesandboroughs commenting: ‘Friendship tampons!???!!!’

Replying, Katherine mocked: ‘that’s right but if you’re pregnant or not menstruating for any other reason, you can still bring one for trades x’

Referencing one of Taylor’s hit songs, clairefmurphy wrote: ‘Isn’t anybody going to make the Bad Blood joke?’

In fits of laughter, jordandwayne commented: ‘This took me all the way out 💀’, while mumologist wrote: ‘😂😂😂 This is the best thing ever’.

‘Certainly takes a vajazzle to the next level x’, laughed totally_beavis.

Katherine is no stranger to keeping it real, whether it’s on stage or online.

She’s been especially candid about parenthood and married life with her husband and childhood sweetheart, Bobby Kootstra.

She shares her youngest two children — Fenna Grace, 14 months and Fred, two — with Bobby and daughter Violet, 14, with ex-boyfriend Alex Edelman.

Speaking recently, Katherine admitted that while she loves her brood, having kids ‘ruined’ the life she had before.

‘My children have enriched my life, they’re such a blessing and I would never trade them for anything,’ Katherine told Women Magazine.

The Roast Battle icon continued: ‘But I would be lying if I said they didn’t ruin the life I had before. But I rebuilt a better one and that’s fine.

‘I would be pretending if I said that I could still do all the things that I could before and I think we’re selling this fantasy of what motherhood means if we aren’t honest about that.’

Katherine and Bobby have also been frank about their romantic life, specifically how often they are intimate.

Opening up about her sex life, Katherine declared that she has sex exactly twice a month – but she’s owning it.

The Duchess star spilled to The Times that she is by no means a ‘minx’ in her marriage.

‘But I should be,’ she continued. ‘We have sex exactly twice a month. I log it just in case I do get pregnant.’
