Kidnappers Demand ₦250 Million Ransom for Ex-NYSC DG, Gen. Tsiga

Abductors of the former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Retired General Maharazu Tsiga, have demanded a ransom of ₦250 million for his release.

General Tsiga was kidnapped on Wednesday night when over 100 armed men stormed his residence in Katsina State. The assailants reportedly surrounded the house and began breaking down doors, prompting the retired military officer to confront them and inquire about their demands.

Security Agencies Launch Manhunt

Security operatives have since launched a manhunt to rescue the former NYSC DG from captivity.

Confirming the ransom demand, a source close to the family, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the kidnappers contacted the family and insisted on the ₦250 million payment as a condition for his release.

Meanwhile, Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai, the lawmaker representing Bakori/Danja Federal Constituency in Katsina State, described the abduction as worrisome, calling for intensified efforts to curb rising insecurity in the region.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the ransom demand, but efforts are ongoing to secure the safe return of the retired general.
