Kieran Tierney: Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers confirms Arsenal defender to re-join Hoops in summer

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney will rejoin the club this summer after agreeing a pre-contract.

The 27-year-old is in the last six months of his Gunners contract and will return to Glasgow at the end of the season.

The Scotland international had been told that he can leave the north London club by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

Tierney missed the first three months of the season with a serious hamstring injury picked up while playing for Scotland at Euro 2024 and has made just five appearances for the Gunners since his return to fitness.

Speaking ahead of Celtic’s Champions League tie at Aston Villa, Rodgers said of Tierney’s move: “Ideally it would [happen in January] but he’s still at this moment an Arsenal player.

“I think everyone is agreed that will definitely take place in the summer. If we can do it beforehand, then great.”

Rodgers also confirmed on-loan Alex Valle is in Barcelona and will not return to the Scottish Premiership club, with Sky in Italy reporting he is set to join Serie A side Como.
