Neighbours have aired yet another truly bizarre storyline, following Ramsay Street legend Susan Kennedy’s (Jackie Woodburne) lack of sexual fulfilment from husband Karl (Alan Fletcher).
That’s right.
This year celebrates thirty years of the Kennedy family on the iconic Australian soap, and we’re also approaching one year into the new deal signed between Channel 10 and Amazon Freevee that saw the show revived in a new streaming format.
During that time, the couple have had their fair share of unusual storylines – who can forget when Susan slipped on some spilt milk and developed retrograde amnesia? During the months that followed she became convinced she was a teenager again and refused to accept she had a husband and three kids.
Then, more recently, Karl was accused of cycling around Erinsborough and defecating in the locals’ gardens. Honestly.

We’ve also become accustomed to the goings on of their sex life, and their infamous ‘blue box’ has gone down in Neighbours history.
For the uneducated, said box contains a number of costumes that the Kennedy’s wear for bedtime antics, and judging by the reactions on the faces of those who are unlucky enough to stumble across it, other explicit items.
As someone who considers Karl and Susan his television parents, this is simply horrifying.
On more than one occasion they’ve been caught in the act, stumbling half-dressed out of the bedroom after forgetting to lock the front door.
However, for poor Susan, in recent weeks she’s become fearful that their new roles at retirement complex Eirini Rising have got in the way of their once vibrant sex life.
In yesterday’s (22nd July) instalment, after opening up to her colleague Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou), it was suggested that they take the afternoon off to head home and reconnect.
Karl, however, was busy chatting with surrogate son Toadie Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney), who is suffering from intense reminders of his late wife Sonya (Eve Morey) – with this clearly kickstarting his upcoming exit.
Susan was desperate for him to return home, but upon realising their time was running out, she darted into his office instead.
She began to inspect the examination table for its durability and sturdiness, contemplating how long it would take them to… you know… and quickly stripped off once she knew he was en route. Little did she know, one of the pensioners who lives at Eirini Rising was also fast approaching, trying to track down her missing hat.
With a knock on the door, Susan prepared herself only for Moira (Robyn Arthur), the aforementioned OAP, to burst in and catch her in the act. Luckily, she was holding the hat to protect her modesty!

Karl soon followed and the two quickly covered, explaining that she was in there for a medical check.
Next, hearing the screams from Moira, Terese also walked in and looked gobsmacked.
Simply brilliant television.
It’s comedic scenes like this that set the show aside from its competition – and definitely something our UK soaps could do with an injection of!
