Liam Davies willing to face Queensberry 'Menace' | Boxing News

LIAM DAVIES may be chasing a world title fight but the appeal of one particular big domestic fight still remains.

The unbeaten 28-year-old returns to the ring on November 2 against Shabaz Masoud four months on from their original date which was postponed because of an injury suffered by Davies.

Davies is currently ranked in the top five with the IBF and WBC but all four sanctioning body titles belong to Japanese phenom Naoya Inoue. A fight against Inoue is top of Davies’ wish-list but he is well aware he would start as an underdog. Closer to home a big domestic super-bantamweight fight against Queensberry stable-mate Dennis ‘The Menace’ McCann could be on the table in 2025.

When asked by Boxing News if he thought he had moved beyond a fight against the European champion, Davies answered: “Nah, I still think that fight could happen.”

Davies then switched positions and asked BN a question. “Would you tune in?” The answer was yes.

“That’s what it’s about,” Davies added. “It’s about getting people interested and tuning in. I see that as a big, big fight. I’m hoping it will happen down the line.

“If they ask me I’ll be ready to go. I never ask who, just when and that’s all I need to know. Dennis is doing his own thing and I wish him the best of luck. Hopefully we meet one day but I’m not too sure when it’s going to be. If it ever comes about I’ll be ready.”
