Prof Oladipo Olusola Olubomehin has emerged as the newly elected Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.
Olubomehin of the pioneer 1982/83 class of Ogun State University now, OOU, studied and graduated with BA History in 1986.
He joined the University in October, 1987 after his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and has devoted himself to teaching, research and administrative duties.
Dipo Olubomehin obtained his Masters and Ph.D in History from the University of Ibadan (UI) 1988 and 1999 respectively.
Olubomehin is a member of several professional bodies. These are the Historical Society of Nigeria since 1987; International Association for Transport, Traffic and Mobility (2004 & 2005); West Africa Research Association (2005); and the Organisation for Historical Research in Nigeria since 2012.
To his credit, the erudite scholar of repute has received several awards and honours in recognition of his outstanding performances.
Some of these are his emergence as 1986 Best Graduating Student in the Department of History at the Ogun State University; Chief T. E. A. Salubi Prize in History for 1987/88 Session awarded for the best M.A. Dissertation on topic dealing with Nigerian History at the University of Ibadan; Long Service Award, in recognition of his contributions to the development of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye; Award of Honour given by the Historien Et Diplomats Students Association, Babcock University, Ilishan, Ogun State.
In his sojourn in the University, Olubomehin has published in several local and international journals.
He had the honour of serving in various capacities including Head, Department of History and Diplomatic Studies between February 2000 – 2002, 2004 – 2008 and from August 2013 to date, among others.
He takes over from Prof Charles Adekoya whose tenure ends today.
