Who is on the Jack Catterall vs. Regis Prograis undercard? | Boxing News

ON Saturday evening, in Manchester’s Co-op Live Arena, Jack Catterall takes on former world champion Regis Prograis live on DAZN. Catterall needs a win to keep him on track towards world class. Prograis has been there, done that and got a t-shirt that is starting to show a few holes and loose threads.

In his last outing, Prograis was handed a beating by Devin Haney. How much has he got left to offer? If Jack can pull it off, in a relatively comfortable fashion, he’ll be primed for the winner of Paro-Hitchins in December. That’s what the main event has to offer, but what else is worth a watch on the DAZN undercard?

Reece Bellotti vs. Michael Gomez Jr

Aged 33 and with five losses on the slate, Reece Bellotti is enjoying something of a career swansong. His five-fight winning streak includes wins over good domestic fighters, picking up the British and Commonwealth super-featherweight titles along the way.

Fresh from a stoppage win over Kane Baker, Gomez Jr, meanwhile, has been enjoying some decent form of his own, since an early-career loss to journeyman Henry Janes. They have a common opponent, Levi Giles, who Bellotti beat last time out and Gomez defeated by a split in early 2023. It’s all set up to be a tasty encounter.

Pat McCormack vs. Williams Andres Herrera

Shaking off an injury and period of inactivity that has stretched for longer than a year, Sunderland’s McCormack will be eager to take his frustrations out on Herrera for a welterweight fringe belt. Pat is 29 and 5-0 with 4 KOs, so he needs to get a little jig on to reignite the career fire.

His Argentine opponent gave Paddy Donovan a reasonably rough ride in Belfast earlier in the year before succumbing to a body shot, so should be good value to hang around for a while.

James Flint vs. Campbell Hatton

A rematch that had to happen. In March, Campbell Hatton lost a decision to Flint for the Central Area title. Known as ‘The Young Lion’ Flint was not exceptional but came in good shape and maintained his boxing skills and composure over 10 rounds to outlast Hatton. Flint has actually fought since, losing to Kyle Boyd on points, so Hatton will fancy he can gain revenge with some added nous to his work.

Joe McGrail vs. Joe Morris

10-0 Joe McGrail was made to work by Ryan Walker in his last outing and Walsall’s Lewis Morris will look to put it on him from the start. Morris has competitive form at Midlands Area level.

Junaid Bostan vs. Maico Sommariva

Rotherham’s Bostan is known as ‘Star Boy,’ and he has looked the part since his 2022 debut. Argentina’s Sommariva has a reputation as a bit of a puncher, but his form has declined since his activity levels fell off a cliff.

Best of the rest

Liverpool middleweight Stephen Clarke continues his pro journey against Mateusz Pawlowski. William Crolla tackles Lorenzo Grasso, while Emily Whitworth makes her pro debut.
