Today sees the release of ‘Boundaries‘, the new single from Nigerian-American singer-songwriter Aisha Badru, taken from her newly announced second album, ‘The Sun Still Rises’ out November 29th on Nettwerk.
The single is accompanied by a lyric video which you can watch below. Aisha says that much of The Sun Still Rises is devoted to the immeasurable power of stillness and reflection, evident in the new single, “Boundaries.” It’s described as pure campfire folk, inviting listeners to step back from the constant buzz of social media and frenetic news cycles that can sometimes overwhelm us all. This sentiment was also reflected in our Off the Shelf interview with Aisha back in May, prior to the release of her EP Learning to Love Again. In that feature she spoke of her own personal journey and her music:
My goal for my music is to help people feel more connected, to feel loved, and to feel valuable. I hope that the healing I found on my personal journey will seep through to whoever hears my songs.
With her new single, she shares: “‘Boundaries’ is the alternative to the workaholic, always available, ultra-productive archetype/mindset that is so prevalent today, especially in the age of social media. Sometimes stillness and rest is the best course of action to move forward.”
This is a musical balm for the soul.
