Billboard: GloRilla & Kirk Franklin’s History-Making ‘Rain Down on Me’ Is the First Song To Debut Atop the Gospel Songs Chart This Year

If you thought GloRilla‘s domination of Billboard this week was limited to Rap charts, you thought wrong.

In addition to watching ‘Glorious‘ enter the Billboard 200 with the year’s highest first-week sales among female rappers, the album’s latest single – the Sexyy Red-assisted ‘Whatchu Kno About Me‘ – is the week’s highest-charting new female hit (among all genres) on the Hot 100.

As if that’s not enough to brag, Glo also treaded in new territory in her career when she saw the LP’s cut ‘Rain Down on Me‘ lifted up to #1 on the Gospel charts.

Details inside.

The first song debut at #1 on the Hot Gospel Songs chart this year, ‘Rain’ – which features some of the genre’s biggest hitmakers like Kierra Sheard, Maverick City Music, and the legendary Kirk Franklin – becomes Glo’s first topper on this tally.

And while it’s Sheard’s third and Maverick’s sixth #1 on this hitlist, for Franklin the pole position opening is a historic one as it makes him the first artist in the chart’s nearly 20-year history to own 9 #1 hits.
