'dead things' release debut vinyl single on Cracked Ankles

dead things

I introduced you to ‘dead things’ back in January here, A blistering debut single that burned the ears. Now courtesy of the Evil Blizzard stable of Cracked Ankles I give you the glory of their debut vinyl release that packs a massive powerhouse punch to the earlobes you’ll never forget for a crunching debut.

Do you all remember that band from Hastings called Hotwax who are making waves on the scene right now? Never forget that Cracked Ankles were on the pulse. They’ve done it again with one of their own from a Preston trio who are bursting with power and going for the jugular, a mammoth sound that will have you lurching out of your seats and moshing like a bastard before I click my crooked fifty year old fingers! Bring the noise!

Terry Clarke still sounds as shit hot as the first time I heard it with the machine gun delivery of a power trio who are nailing it from the start (see the review above). B-side Frederick Holt nods it’s head to Pixies with a shuddering moody bassline and Santiago like guitar refrain that leads into a blood curdling scream from Sic Turtle reminiscent of Black Francis in his own early years. This is easily on par with the new Jesus Lizard single if not better and you know there’s more to come if this is the first bricks of their foundation. A stormer of a debut!

Catch them live on Friday 14th June for their single launch at The Ferret Preston with Filthy Dirty, Objections and British Birds. Tickets available here.
