Perhaps the most legendary bassist of all time or the player of one the most iconic bass riffs – the Walk On The Wild Side bass line, Herbie Flowers has died at the age of 86.
his career reads like a roll call of the seventies with his bass being a key part of albums recorded by David Bowie (Space Oddity etc), Lou Reed (Transformer), Nilsson (Schmilsson), Henry Mancini (Pink Panther), Sir Elton (Burn Down the Mission), David Essex (Rock On – incidentally, produced by Jeff Wayne), Sir Paul Mac (Give My Regards to Broad Street), George Harrison (Somewhere in England), Ringo Starr.
British bassist was the go to bass guy in the seventies and everyone knows at least one of his bass lines.
