“It’s Not the Time Yet”: Liam Payne’s First Posthumous Single Postponed from November 1 Release

It’s barely been two weeks since news of Liam Payne‘s death sent shockwaves throughout the industry, but fans of the singer-songwriter were already slated to get “new” music from the One Direction star by Friday (November 1).

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) recently, Payne’s producer Sam Pounds announced the 31-year-old’s first posthumous single – ‘Do No Wrong’ – would hit digital shelves on Friday.

“I pray that this will be a blessing to the world like Liam has always dreamed. I pray angels will comfort you all every day while listening,” Pounds said to his 34,000 followers on the platform at the time. “I pray that this song will be a blessing to Ruth [Payne’s sister], Bear [Payne’s son], and the entire family…I pray that this song eclipses the negative echoes. I pray supernatural positive healing power will embrace each and every one of you.”

Despite his seeming good intentions, Sam’s announcement drew mixed reactions from fans as many suggested it was too soon.

He later returned to Twitter to backtrack, asserting the song will be withheld until Liam’s family is ready to release it.

“I want all proceeds go to a charity of their choosing (or however they desire). Even though we all love the song it’s not the time yet,” he said on social media earlier this week. “We are all still mourning the passing of Liam and I want the family to morn in peace and in prayer.”

At writing, no updated release date for ‘Wrong’ nor its parent album has been reported.
