Just days after hosting his own 40,000-capacity mega-show in Liverpool’s Sefton Park Jamie Webster has announced a set of Winter tour dates with tickets available this Friday..

Last weeks celebratory sold out home-town show should leave people in no doubt how much the 30-year-old singer, songwriter and musician’s popularity is growing album-by-album and tour-by-tour. The gig included surprise appearances from the likes of The Zutons’ Dave McCabe for a version of Valerie and Echo and The Bunnymen’s Ian McCulloch duetting on Nothing Lasts Forever along with national treasure, Brookside and Royle Family actor, Ricky Tomlinson who provided a stirring spoken opening to Webster’s lover letter to Liverpool, This Place.

Over the last few years Webster has been attracting growing crowds of switched-on music lovers though upbeat songs which aren’t afraid to champion the underdog and shine a light on social issues, the Liverpudlian folk hero establishing himself as a spokesperson for his generation.

Last week he also released his first new material since his No 2 album 10 For People, the single Breadline. Webster’s latest is a deeply contemplative take on finding the green shoots in life’s barren fields, a picture of familiar hope and sorrow. A self confessed superfan of Bob Dylan, Breadline’s warm, acoustic driven feel takes a route closer to the sounds of his folk heroes as much as it does his own one man and guitar roots in his earliest days. Once again he is unafraid to shame the devil when it comes to singing truth to power and putting working class lives at the forefront, just as he has on We Get By, Moment and the aformention recent album.

The Winter Tour will see him travel from north to south and east to west takes him across the Irish Sea to Belfast and Dublin before returning for five wild nights closer to home. Fans can expect songs old and new to be in the set list as Webster prepares to play some of the biggest shows away from his home city.
