Janet Jackson Talks Post-Super Bowl “Blacklisting,” Feeling “Badly” About Shelving Her New Album, & Expecting “Mayhem” After the U.S. Presidential Election

Pop Queen Janet Jackson has left jaws royally dropped after a bombshell interview with ‘The Guardian.’

The usually reserved music royal – hot on the promo trail for the 2024 leg of her hotly selling ‘Together Again Tour‘ – chatted with the British daily paper during her time in London (weeks ahead of the unexpected death of her older brother Tito Jackson).

Weighing in on everything from the incident (aka the 2004 Super Bowl) to America’s current political landscape, hop inside to see the buzzworthy quotes from the chat that’s set social media ablaze.

Janet on Shelving Her ‘Black Diamond’ Album:

“I feel so badly about that. There was this stuff I had to clean up in my own back yard, which got cleaned up,” she said before sharing she’s waiting on “the opportune time” to drop the LP – her first since 2015’s ‘Unbreakable.’ “And I have recorded a lot of music. A lot of music that’s just sitting on the shelf.”

Janet on if Her Post-Super Bowl Blackballing Actually Happened or Was Exaggerated:

“The cultural…[Blacklisting]? Uh-huh…it’s true,” she said to the interviewer. “It is true.”

Janet on if the Super Bowl Blackballing Impacted Her Career:

“For sure, for sure,” she relayed.

Janet on if America Is Ready for Black Female President:

“Honestly, I don’t want to answer that because I really, truthfully, don’t know. I think either way it goes is going to be mayhem,” she said. “We’ll have to see.”

Janet on Kamala’s Racial Identity:

“Well, you know what they supposedly said? She’s not black. That’s what I heard. That she’s Indian,” Jackson shared. “Her father’s white. That’s what I was told. I mean, I haven’t watched the news in a few days. I was told that they discovered her father was white.”
