Last month, Junior Brother released his new single, Take Guilt, which KLOF’s Thomas Blake described as one of his best songs yet. An impassioned rant against the hypocrisies and injustices of the modern day and a brutally honest self-examination delivered in his own raw and inimitable style.
Take Guilt’s accompanying music video by Ellius Grace (who also made Junior Brother’s This is My Body and Lankum’s Wild Rover) is out today. Starring Éanna Hardwick, Grace’s work more than lives up to Kealy’s voice—starker, truer, and more distinctive than ever.
Speaking about the video, Junior Brother says: “The visual for “Take Guilt” explores the facing, feeling, and suppressing of the horrors broadcast from elsewhere in the world – Being able to leave your room of anguish and guilt, shattered by the news of evil done in your face, and then go to live happily your mundane, privileged day.”
Junior Brother embarks on a UK tour in October and will round out the year performing at The Pogues’ 40th Anniversary Performance of Red Roses for Me at the 3 Arena, Dublin, on Tuesday, 17th December. Fellow special guests also joining on the night include Grian Chatten and Tom Coll from Fontaines D.C., Nadine Shah, John Francis Flynn, Ian and Daragh Lynch from Lankum, Kojaque, Iona Zajac, + Stick in The Wheel.
Headline shows for Cork, Dublin, and Belfast in 2025 are on sale now, + more to be announced.
