Justin Timberlake made headlines when he was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated in the Hamptons.
However, in an interesting twist, the star’s lawyer is insisting that JT wasn’t “intoxicated” at all.
Full story below…
With legal proceedings underway, the ‘Cry Me a River’ singer’s lawyer Edward Burke is seeking to have the case dismissed, citing errors in documents submitted by police.
Making his position clear and indicating the angling of Timberlake’s defense, Burke said:
“He was not intoxicated. I’ll say it again. Justin Timberlake was not intoxicated.”
Prosecutors deemed the matter a mere “ministerial error” that was amended on July 2 and stressed, “the facts and circumstance of the case have not been changed or amended.”
Burke alleges further mistakes highlight why the case ought to be dropped:
“The police made a number of very significant errors in this case. In court today, you heard the district attorney try to fix one of those errors. But that’s just one and there are many others. Sometimes the police make mistakes and this is just one of those instances.”
Prosecutors are resolute in their stance:
“His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
The next court hearing will take place on August 2. Timberlake, who will be in Europe on his ‘Forget Tomorrow World Tour,’ has been permitted to appear virtually.
